Why would the police confiscate them in the first place? Most of the plates probably gave up without too much fight maybe the DE4L3R one was packing.....

I'd say the cars were confiscated and they were the plates that were attached to the cars - there's nothing wrong with the plates.

I think most of those plates are too derp and I'd be embarrassed to own one...
Unless I was a rich Arab and the plates were attached to one of my Lamborghini Aventadors, preferably the H1ROLR or SORICH plates. |

I am sure that you buy these plates and you will be given more than your fair share of attention as they will always be in the police computer as "Known to police" and cause you to have many "Random" breath tests. Best to let the plates got to people who want the attention.

Not all of those plates are bad, I'd like to get BDEBT3 and put it on the cheapest sh*tbox i can buy, then just drive that to work and back.

Are they selling the right to use the plate, or just the piece of metal with letters and numbers on it?
Plates are taken off cars every day by the police, around 30 days after the rego expires & it isn't renewed Vicroads will cancel the plate and if the po-po are out and about and check the plate, they'll grab a screwdriver and take the plates. If the owner of personalised plates hasn't paid to put them on "self retention" prior to this point, they loose the plate, and their right to put it onto any car they own. Simple as that. I think those plates are returned to Vicroads though, and aren't held by the Police for any reason. I'm assuming these plates are being sold with the right to use them (IE. The plate ownership will be transferred by Vicroads)if this ist he case, then the plates will be off cars that were confiscated as proceeds of crime. Some of them certainly seem to fit this category.... I can imagine the type of person who had the plate "DEAL3R".... and I can imagine the person who buys it may find an inconspicuous flower delivery van parked outside their house in the coming weeks...... |
