You asked "is it worth it" but you never defined what 'it' is.
If 'it' = $50 then I'd say definitely yes.
If 'it' = waiting a couple of weeks longer to find the parts, then I'd say yes.
If 'it' = buying more parts compared to the other, then probably no (refer first point)

Given the option of either for free, no one would choose the smaller of the two.


It's not only about leverage, it's also about pad swept area.

But that doesnt describe any 'worth', it's simply asking if one is better than the other, in which case of course bigger is better.

Like I said above, if both options (300 and 322) were available for free, why would you choose the smaller.

'worth' becomes a consideration when there is a cost. Be it time, money, or something else.

Righto - as I understand it here's the options I have. Correct me if I'm wrong.

1) Retain standard AUIII caliper, use bracket and get new lines to allow fitment of 330mm disc.

2) Get BF XR8/Territory setup which is new calipers, brackets and lines. Add rotors and pads to suit.

3) Get BA spec caliper which allows fitment of 300mm disc and lines to suit.

All have their pros and cons. Am I missing anything?

Aust seriously I'd wait until a set of tickford premiums or the BA C5 premiums come up.

Out of those options though I'd just go the whole hog with the BF XR8 set up, what's the point in doing half the job?

22mm ? not sure it would matter much but it might help as the increase in swept area might aid cooling ? , I went from 290mm to 355mm and added some pistons to the calipers on the daily , I do have problems with eyeballs falling out

The larger the disc and more pad area you can get, the better. If your budget is endless, get the best you can afford. If not, then get the best you can afford. The 287mm AU2 brakes with slotted rotors and a decent pad are every bit as good as a stock 322mm setup for repeated hard brake application (such as a long downhill windy road, a race track, or just the traffic light to traffic light get to the speed limit as fast as you can....).

i did the ba upgrade on my au xr6 ute and was a massive improvement, now i did au xr8 to ba gt brakeswhich have the original "oblong grooved" discs and when pushed hard there awesome, locks up the abs to easy though, which is coz of my LCA bushes. but for $200 it was a great upgrade, then i got braided lines which made no difference, just peice of mind when hard braking

braided lines gives a bit better brake feel after a while when hot and pushed hard. Thats all I have felt with them as well as the peace of mind.
