Default is a mercedes c63 amg 2.5 times the car of a fpv 335 GT?

We all know the Mercedes c63 is an awesome machine. It costs 2.5 times our boss 335 gt in price.

But is it 2.5 times the car?

Performance they would be about level, interior and looks the c63 has it sewn up, quality, prestige? 2.5 times? Resale?

Is it 2.5 times the fpv product or does our gt punch well above its weight.

Wasn't the f6 not long ago acknowledged as the best sports car under $100k?

It's actually 2.78 times the car. Others may disagree.

Yes.

Yes.

Different strokes for different folks..

At the end of the day they all loose money, so the more money up front, the more you loose...

Discounted FPV,s all models, when available are Great value, no question about it, status symbols are just that, not perhaps good investments, but you have got to spend your money some way? If you have it..

I still say the Nissan GTR is has to be the best value option on four wheels, it's the FPV of Super cars!

Throw 20-30k at your FPV and you will have a very nice and capable motor vehicle. I do get your point btw, and I agree it's a valid one.

I'd still prefer a falcon to spending that much on a car

how long is a piece of string? the fords are a compromise family sedan/high performance grand tourers, the amg is a dedicated luxo factory hotrod which you pay well for , it`s probably not really fair to compare the two, but it seems to me the bang for buk would go to the ford.

Remember C63s sell for 60 kay on the US market, which makes our 335 GT look like the rort of the century. So really, a C63 is only '2.5 times the car' after various taxes and what have you...

How much does a new C63 cost in the country it was made in ? as Adrenaline points out, you can't compare the $$ worth of one here after all the duties and taxes have been implemented.....

But to those that are willing to pay 2.5 times the price of a GT (in Aust) then yes, it's worth every penny.....

If I ever had the money looks alone of the C63 wins hands down then we get into all the the areas the C63 is better. But everything is built to a budget for what you get with a 335GT it isn't too bad compared to the euros. I remember HSV didn't want to be compared to FPV, compared to the euros they IMO aren't even close.

C63 is a nice car I would love to own one.

In the USA, the SS Commodore sold as Pontiac G8 for around 30 K so by my estimations, a GT Falcon would probably be just under the C63s price there.
Put the additional costs down to RHD engineering and importation mark up.

Diminishing returns, like everything in life.

Is a $4000 .243 rifle worth it compared to a $1500 one, and is $3000 optics worth it compared to the $600 telescope? Intended function results in the same thing - a very dead recipient of the bullet from either, but one just does it more accurately, with a greater level of precision. Ones nicer to handle, nicer to use, has greater inherent levels of precision engineering, and maybe even a properly comprehensive after sales support service.

So if you can afford it, and see value in those things, of course it's worth it, without a shaddow of a doubt.

Is the C63 2.5 times the car of the GT335?

Its actually probably 10 times the car of the 335. The 335 is a heavy car with a POORLY set up chassis which doesn't handle, and doesn't get the power down with those stupid skinny tyres (what the HELL was Ford thinking??).

The C63 is a wonderful car with perfect handling (which belies its admittedly falcon like weight), wonderful steering feedback (perhaps a tiny bit of rack rattle) and is blisteringly fast (getting the power down is half the battle of the FPV), with every single concievable creature confort you'd expect from a post $100k car. This vehicle and ANY Australian built "sports" sedan (dumbass looking HSV's included) need not even be mentioned in the same sentence.

The C63 is worlds ahead of anything that Ford or Holden can offer, and it makes sense when you consider the worldwide market they are built for commands a world class budget. Any comparison or attempt to insinuate that a 335 GT is a serious alternative is laughable.

When you consider this is an AMG vehicle, whose pricing begins at "only" $140k (especially when you consider pricing on current other AMG models or AMG's of the past with similar performance), for something which performs and handles and seats 4 in comfort, then in my opinion, it is great value. The fact that last year the C63 alone was responsible for breaking a new AMG sales record says volumes.

I can not wait for the C63 Coupe to arrive here. Then, I may just be a convert myself.

Sit in a FG GT, then go sit in a C 63 & before you have even started the engine you can see where your money has gone.

love it! i got to drive one of these once, man that was just unreal.. unfortunately i have not driven anything above a BA xr8 though.

just love the way it looks, really set it off, and when you look at the softer models, you can tell mercedes didnt just slap on a bodykit or something. it actually looks like the tamer model, on steroids!!

but in my opinion, if it costs so much more, you would not want to finance a car like this, either bloody huge repayments, or a life sentence of a loan.

and if you were fortunate enough to buy one of these in full, i would rather have an FPV, and a Clubsport in my garage for the same price, instead of just ONE of these.

I know they use the C-Class wagons as taxis in Germany.

As the very fortunate owner of a C63 here's my vibe....

Before I bought the C63 I drove, the C63, M3 and GTP 5.4. M3 is arguably the most polished handler of the 3 ad would make an excellent crossover trak/daily driver car, GTP was great value for money, but the C63 without question puts a smile on my face every time I hit the starter let alone drive it. When I bought it the sales guy said to me the problem with the C63 is when it comes out of lease you won't know what to replace it with..... And he's right. I have a year to go on the lease and am buggered if I can figure where to go from here.

Yes, I know I'm lucky to have this sort of problem.

Sure would, C200d's most likely.

AMG engineer (re-engineer) their cars from the ground up, here in Oz we just bolt up a snail, throw on some shinny alloys (undersize at that), glue on the biggest boot spoiler wing thing available...

..and

Wallah !!

a 'sports sedan' is born.

but "bang-for-your-buck" our locals are unbeatable...

Considering that the value of an item be it a watch through to a house, is the amount of money that a buyer is willing to pay, I think we have our answer.

This response is the view point of someone that had the funds available and in their research they found it was worth the extra premium, and he is not alone.

If they were not worth the extra premium to the real buyers of these vehicles, they would not be selling and therefore it would be safe to say they are not worth it. The fact is they are selling, very well, so they must be worth it.

mmmm

Contrary position here and I am a Benz fan and owner.

The C63 if a gorgeous car, well equipped, fast, and has the best sounding standard engine ever.

However, we are the not so proud owners of the cooking (Taxi?) version of the current C Class. A 2010 C250 Avante Garde. The wifes car. Same money as a GTP and a fraction of the price of a C63. It's classy car, the handling and breaking combined with a plush ride make for a great combination. The "command" centre CD/DVD/Nav/iPone intergration is excellent. The 1.8 turbo produces 147kw and 350nm and goings better than is should in a 1500kg car.

It's had it's share of issues, Blown tail lights, exessive oil consumption, uses coolant, engine check light on and off, exhaust rattles, worn out carpets, it's an 18 month old 40,000km city car that's never been on dirt road.

But It's Benz's refusal to acknowledge let alone repair these isssue (LED Tail-lights excluded)that has done it for me. And yes I've had lots of correspondenbce with Benz head office. If had paid the $150K+ retail ask for a C63 and been treated like they do, I would geuinely want to hurt someone.

My next car WILL be a 335 FPV of some sort. Wifes next car a Focus or Golf.

Hmmm, I'm definitly with Elks on this one and am very fortunate to own a current model S Class and a SC GT-P.

First up, the comparison isn't valid, C63 is a small car in no way comaprable in size to the 335. Comparable car is either the E63 AMG or S63 AMG, 335 is half way between in size between these two cars, so price up an E63 or S63 and the 335 starts to look very inexpensive. (Retail on an S63 AMG is over $400,000 last time I looked).

My Merc has had major problems with its diesel particulate filter, 5 months of negotiations with M Benz, they were arrogant, unhelpful and only responded when I went on a war footing with engineer experts and threats of publicity and legal action. Now resolved but shouldn't take five months, assistance from 2 engineer friends and all the drama's, compares to one water pum,p failure in the 335 that was fixed promptly and without any fuss whatsoever.
Imagine how you'd feel if your new Mercedes was ingesting 1 litre of fuel into the engines sump and mixing with the oil, every 3,000 km's !!

Merc's have interior style and class in abundence, no argument there and by and large they're very well put together with world class construction safety, top qulaity paint and so on but are they worth the money. No !!!!
In fact if you want the fastest way to tear up money you've ever come across buy a new S Class.

Here's the thing though, its not just taxes, duty GST and LCT that makes up the price locally, the local distributor is bending you right over too...and guess who owns the right to distribute M Benz cars in Australia and new Zealand....that's right M Benz Germany, they're bending you right over and ******* you in the **** right along with your Government. M Benz are the most arrogant company I've ever dealt with in over 35 years of owning cars, believe me the German arrogance goes right through that organisation from the head office in Germany right down to your local dealer and everywhere in between. If you think lots of money buys you a guaranteed problem free run, you're wrong and good luck when you start dealing with the "German machine" that's there after sales service and "care"

SC GT-P is a good high performance vehicle for the money. I like both my cars a lot but only one of them is fairly priced and just in case anyone wants to know the Zf 6 speed auot in the FPV is significantly better than the 7G Tronic box of the Merc.

Default Re: is a mercedes c63 amg 2.5 times the car of a fpv 335 GT?

335 would be quicker in a straight line 1/4 mile same drivers IMO, its also alot of car for the money if you remove the taxes of the car and bs also it would be even more of a bfyb car
