You can cut your hair to look like Justin Timberlake
You can listen to his music to show that you are a fan You can go to his concerts to enjoy his live performance talent You can have pictures of him on your computer or mobile as a desktop But....... As soon as you start calling yourself Justin Timberlake and insist that everyone you know starts calling you by that name.....then there are some issues that may require counselling...... Its an automotive faux pas.....cant understand what pleasure you would gain from ridiculing yourself and your car. So.....i say go for it.....

OK, I asked a bunch of mates at work the other day what they thought after we saw a 316 with M badges on it. They thought sticking an FPV badge on something non FPV, and clearly something which is around 20 plus years older than the FPV company screams out bogan.
An FO I know said and I quote; "Why not get a job and then you can afford an FPV?" A respected captain added; "Improprietous W***er" Another FO also added; "FPV, Housing Commission Model". The point is, whether or not the car is great, why ruin it by labelling it something it never was, never will be and which has no link to any kind of anything special? If you put SVO badges on it, then it could be passed off as such but FPV is just a massive problem with dates. What, we're expected to believe someone took their 1980 model, $500.00 XD to FPV and had them tune it? I gotta go with the captain in this case; "Improprietous W***er."

Should bolt on some FPV rims.
Paint it "True blue".. or "BREEZE" "Blood orange" or "Toxic" Slam in a new 5 litre supercharged FPV engine.. THEN put an FPV badge on it. lol |

Tell him to just put the big 5.8 badges that came out on the side guards of the XD!

I reckon he should keep the original badges, still of seen stranger things than FPV badges on XDs. Theres an BA XR6t and a Ford Transit getting around Bendigo with "Peterbilt" where the Ford badges used to be.

it is just a freakin badge - and apart from that it is the same basic shape just a different colour. unlike a bowtie (which the owner is quite entitled to have), no one can see it is an fpv badge until up close
wow, there are precious people in this world just get him to modify a ford badge - keep the ford logo, but change the colour to the fpv colours. if he does that at least some people here will have better things to do than complain about it |

the owner of the car did not ask for an opinion at all - and surprise, surprise it is his car instead of suggesting he was cheerful, why couldn't someone else have suggested to make a chrome ford badge himself. it was the chrome that he wanted, not to fool people that his xd was an fpv. i am amazed that people can be fooled into thinking that |

Personally, I do not think any non-FPV car should have an FPV badge.
I just think it's try-hardish. But as it is his car, what we have to say is irrelevant. If he wants to put a "Bad Girl" sticker on his back window to top it off, then that's his prerogative.

Good idea! The thread is going around in circles. One element of AFF that makes it so great is that we accept peoples cars for the pride and joy that they are, no matter what spec level they are. We do not rubbish other members (or family of members) no matter what our personal belief is. The question was asked and there have been enough responses to get the idea, we are done here.
