Hi Guys beware this item is a con 270839909452 BA GTP I know becuase I bought this car on ebay in march and it is in my driveway it is not in Essendon nor is it for sale. I have repotered it to police and ebay. Police do not do anything until after it is sold to some poor bugger and ebay well you can not ever talk to them.

the pics are from the original listing on ebay back in march.

I found it looks for GTP parts and saw a car in the same colour as that is rare I had a look. there is only 76 ever made.

And thanks for the ebay info I have looked for about and hour and was just getting mad.

Relisting of cars which have sold recently or stealing of photos on ebay isnt new.

If you look at the sellers history he has zero rep points.

Most of the times these scams will have no phone number you can call or a yahoo email addie or similar (generic email addie).

keep reporting it to ebay and the auction will be removed and user id deleted.

I think that would make him cake his trousers if it is indeed a fraud. I mean, I'm selling an old motorbike on ebay at the moment, and when the winning bid comes in, the money is mine, then it's up to the person to pick it up.

If they turned up and I didn't have it, it's fraud, and rather serious fraud, as I have entered a contract with them to take the money and give them the item for sale. Ebay is normally pretty strict on this sort of thing giving them a bad name.

Looking at one of the pics there is a blood orange MK1 GTP in the background. Did the bloke you bought it off have 2 for sale?

So, falsely advertising an item to obtain financial benefit isn't a crime? I guess once a bid has been made isn't the transaction / contract legally binding?

That is a real shame. With the tens of millions of dollars that are lost every year to fraud you would think they would take a more proactive approach.

It's not like there isn't an electronic 'paper trail' to follow. If they came down hard on this there wouldn't be as many rip-off artists around.

Yellow Festiva I would have thought that someonein policing would make an easy catch out of this sort of thing. Win the auctionand mess them around on payment until someone shows got ya.

what the hell...seriously the law is so ridiculous sometimes...

why do the police have to wait for it to be sold and get someones hopes up or worse money exchange hands..there is alot of legal tape that would come with handing money over and the person may never see the full amount back in their hands..

something similiar but unrelated, my brothers gf got elbowed in the chest by someone. She went down to the police station to file a assault charged which the officer replied, she would have to wait a couple days to see if a bruise came out or go to a doctor and get an x-ray...

maybe they should police things like this then picking on people for harmless car defects

Hulk EF I did get a bit of surprise when I saw it that wasfor sure. But it just shows you how organised some of these people are. This hadto be kept for 6 month on file waiting to relist it. I bet they have a lot moreand others will be out there.

I would have bid on it, if it was my car. Just to prove that it was fake and really mess up the system.

It isn't just eBay that it happens.
I saw a car advertised on Carsales and sent them an email.
They replied with more details and offered me a special price.
While trolling through eBay I found the same car advertised at double the price.
I emailed this guy on eBay and he was the real owner trying to sell it.
Scammers just find cars for sale anywhere and download the images and advertise them to suckers that might pay a deposit or something like that and then the scammers run

Athough not in the same level of seriousness as the GT-P issue, someone used some photos of my Fairlane, that I took myself to show on here and at aufalcon.com, to advertise their car on eBay and I wrote about it on the forums.

The guy actually joined up as a member and apologised, said he was in a rush and couldn't get any recent photos of the car he was selling, which was apparently identical (at the time).
