Default Advise on wrongly supplied parts please?

Hi there

I purchased some discs and bearings for my car and was given the incorrect bearings. The inner diameter of the bearings were bigger than the diameter of my stub axel. As a result the wheel was moving when turning corners and the disc was making contact with the calliper. the rim in which the dust seal fits into cracked off the disc and long story I have bought new disc and bearings from a reputable Ford Shop which supplied me with the correct bearings.

Should the original shop be refunding me as all the damage is due to them giving me the wrong part? or is it my fault that I didn't ensure that the parts were correct before installing?

I haven't approached them yet about it but would like to hear what other people think and how I should tackle getting some of my money back?

Any help would be good.

thanks

You possibly will get your money back on the incorrect parts (if the supplier is nice), but have no hope on the consequential costs for damage after fitting (unless you want to go to court, which you wouldn't for this).

You will find on the bottom of the invocie there is a note to make sure parts are correct before fitting ect

Also if it comes to push to shove it might come down to whether or not the aprts were fitted by a qualified mechanic.

I would safely say you may not have much of a leg to stand on even though the part supply place has given you the wrong stuff

Have you got the right stub axles in your car?

But yeah I'd say hard lesson learnt.

Yep thats right, you live and you learn. I think it was mostly my fault as a result of a lack of experience. Won't make that mistake again. Stub axel are correct and I have already bought new discs and bearing and installed them.

Thanks for the thoughts boys.
