I had to take out my jack yesterday, and was greeted with a puddle of stinky water...
There was "sweat" on the alloy wheel and the jack nut is starting to rust. :( I can't see water anywhere else so presumably it's a small leak that's been pooling for a while. I'll have to remember to check inside the boot after a good shower. Just wondering if this is a common prob. Can I drill a hole through the body there? |

Put a hole in one of the rubber plugs.

sponge it into a bucket, if you hop into the boot with a torch and get the missus to go over the boot area very slowly with the hose, dont spray just run the water, starting at the lowest parts working up wards with the hose, do the number plate area, tail lights, around the seal, and the spoiler supports, remembering some times it takes a few minutes for the water to find its way through , if no leaks do the rear window last, same procedure.

Make sure there is nothing underneath then drill a hole where ever the water is.

I checked it again today and there's more sweat (condensation drops) on the metal of the wheel and also the surrounding body. I sponged out the puddle and wiped everything down a couple of days ago.
We had some fairly heavy rain last night, but it doesn't seem to have done much as far as water ingress goes. I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's a ventilation problem rather than a leak? Could the puddle be months worth of condensation? |

Mine is the same, turns out the LPG sweats pretty good! Where the water is pooling in your picture, under that black mat thing... There should be a drain hole already. There was in mine (looked factory, not some dodgy drill). I just pulled that up and let it drain.
I never replaced the plug, and have never had any more problems with it... Hope that helps.. |
