had a bit of a weird one in the fairlane today,
in normal mode(economy off) when excelerating the battery light has been flashing briefly when the car changes gears(this is without accessories like radio, cd, air con on).. anyone else had this? is it cause for concern or just time to get a new battery |

Get the battery checked ... and also alternator charge rate as well ... may be an alternator on the way out. Do you have any power steering fluid leaking onto the alternator???

Regulator on its way out or the main (thickest) wire from the alternator to the battery has become brittle from heat being close to the engine and has frayed inside the insulation close to the alternator. Get someone to gently shake the wire while it's idling (watch the fingers) and see if the light blinks. Also check the related fusible link at the battery (try the wiggle test with that too).
