Default Anyone here racing in the Saloon car series?

I'm interested in getting into it, thinking about racing an AU falcon in QLD. Just wondering if there is anyone on here currently racing in the state or national series?

I have a few questions about getting started

For starters, it might be a good idea to go through their website www.salooncars.net.au and drop them an e-mail.

Best of luck.

I have been looking at buying one myself, the EA's offer excellent value for money now the AU's are in the series, a set up EA can be had for under $10,000. As with most race series, it will probably end up being a lot cheaper to buy a car rather than building from scratch.

A couple questions to start off with:

Is the state series healthy? Is it dying off or is it growing?

Gearbox
The regulations specify a T50D gearbox, is this the standard 5speed AU gearbox?

Still plenty of entrys on a national & state basis
The qld, vic, nsw & I think SA series attract a good field

Not 100% on the gearbox, but I think its a EF/EL box

the T50D gearbox has been around since the ea days poss the xf days aas well

found this for ya

Quote:
Vehicles eligible are the four-door EA/EB (Series 1 EB only) Ford Falcon sedans with 3.9 litre six-cylinder MPI engines, five-speed (T50D) manual transmissions and four-wheel disc brakes. The eligible vehicles are described by the manufacture identification as “Prefix body code” JG23/25/32/34/SW. Model numbers 18733, 18933, 18133, 18734, 18934, 18134, 18737, 18937, 18132.
that is from 2009 so will be out of date

got it from this link

http://www.nswproductiontouringcars...._3K_Q209_1.pdf

I am not sure what cars after that they were in but it gives you the idea

Jason

just found another link for you

http://www2.cams.com.au/bulletins/B0...%20revised.pdf

hope that helps

they state that the box is as far back as the ea but i think it is further as it is available in mustangs etc as well

I know, a little off topic, but did Bruce use to Race HQs?

On topic... Last time i went out to Mallala, the Tourers had a fairly big field and seemed to be pretty good racing.
