For something a little different, I am supporting the charity, Transplant Australia, in their Santa for a Day campaign. As you title suggests, it involves dressing up as a Santa (today) and receiving donations to go to Transplant Australia to help them continue to raise the awareness of organ and tissue donation around Australia.
I have a page through Everyday Hero that allows anyone to make donations via credit card, bpay and cheque. If you can spare a few dollars to donate it would be greatly appreciated! Please see my page: www.everydayhero.com.au/russell_scheetz. A receipt is provided for all donations over $2.00 As a brief background, my wife received a double organ transplant 6 months ago after living with type 1 diabetes for 26 years and also in acute kidney failure, so this charity is very close to us. She is now doing extremely well, but more work needs to be done to make people more aware of the benefits of organ and tissue donation. Just a brief pic of me on the way to work...

Good luck mate - it is a wonderful gift that someone and their family has given your wife!
The best thing we can all do, is talk about with our families and make sure that it is registered on our driver's licence and ensure that our families will say 'yes' if the question is ever asked. Hope you made some money today. |

Agree 100%. Whilst many people are madly Christmas shopping today, there are around 1600 people in Oz waiting for a transplant.
Talking with family is really important, as well as registering on the organ and tissue donation register. Thanks, had a fun day. Plenty of smirks and 'ello Santa's. My current total is $509.45, although I have $200 in pledges on the way to bring my total to $709.45. I will be appearing in a local paper next week so hope some more donations will get me closer to my goal of $1000.
