AU3 brake upgrade

im due for new pads and rotors in my au, so im thinking i might as well upgrade them instead.

after doing some research im nearly more confused than i was before...

brembos... fantasy land for me, i cant justify the cost on a stock 6, no matter how awesome they would look.

tickford premium... would be good, but seem to be rare on the partsmarket, and not at all cheap.

looking through ftg's thread they were selling an upgrade package consisting of (i think) new bf V8/xr6t callipers and discs as a bolt on proposition

now can anyone confirm the the bf stuff is a direct bolt on to the au3?

if so, that means i should be able to go into a local wrecker and get the parts and have a nice cheap effective upgrade? or am i missing something somewhere?

is there any other options?

pretty sure BF upgrade is just need BF rotors pads/ calipers bolt up. and you use the BF caliper brake lines. so you obvs need to bleed out your system.

QFM HPX pads for the win. if you want something bang for buck and good

although... if the stock bf stuff bolts up does that also mean a set up like this would?

Yep. as long as you get the lines to go with the calipers as you need longer ones when you fit them.

I have some BF XR6T brakes in the shed ready to go on (one day).

even with the FTG kit you need custom brake lines made up for an AU. AU on the car end BA/BF on the caliper end . I was told this by FTG a while ago when I was thinking about going this way

Have a look at my build thread, I went the BA XR8 route and its probably one of the best mods I have done, so much better.

If you're not sure about putting B-series stuff on, you could just go for some aftermarket slotted rotors in the AU size...

I personally have these on my AU and can vouch that they are a good step up from the stock rotors. Especially when paired up with quality brake pads, such as the QFM HP-X.

hmm, certainly goes against what it says in there own thread, where they say its pure bolt on. or did there kit include modified lines?

i agree that looks like a good upgrade, but im looking at going bigger as well, trying ti fill my 19s a little more than the stock brakes

I'm fairly sure the kit I have (I bought it second hand from a wreck) is one of theirs and it is a direct fit - no changing of the connections on the lines etc. They're just longer.

Yeah IIRC I just had my lines zip tied out of the way so they cant foul anything. Something to that effect anyway, no issues and they have been in for a while.

BA Front, terry rear... RDA slotted/vented rotors, TRW pads and braided lines... its a hella good combination!

I dunno if there is any point doing the rears as the fronts do the majority of the work. Territory brakes on the front I fully agree with though.

I know they got the different uprights then series 1 but did they change again?

No - the S2 and S3 stuff is the same so anything for an S3 will fit an S2 etc.

the hoses are for BA or BF anyway so you will need to use AU ones

after discussing this further on the phone with FTG it turns out the locating pin on the caliper end of the hose is different so you need an AU hose with a BA caliper end . don't take my word for it ring them like I did

i was watching the drift bible and the guy that made it (i cant remember his name its not something simple like Bill Smith cos he's jap) said having good front brakes and average rear brakes effect car control to not be as good as it could be.
