Well just arrived in Brisbane from Adelaide with the misses and our 4 kids,
in the XC wagon with 70s camper trailer in tow, lol. We took 5 days as we did a little sight seeing on the way ( including a couple laps of mt panorama). We were pleased to have a trouble free 2500km run ( apart from loosing the locking petrol cap somewhere in country NSW) I probably shouldn't say anything as we have to drive home yet, but not even a chipped screen or flat tyre. Although I did notice some fresh oil around the diff seal. While were up here im keen to go on at least one car cruise, so feel free to let me know whats around. http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/d...rent=022-1.jpg |

Ahh reminds me of my childhood days. Back when I was about 8 (mid 80's) we had the family Christmas holiday, dad driving the XC wagon, mum and 3 kids aboard, dash mounted fan blowing hot air, vinal seats burning our backsides, and camper trailer in tow. Went from Melbourne to the Sunshine coast.
Hope your trip is trouble free. I remember ours wasn't, an extended lunch stop in a country town while we waited for dad who was off to find a shop that was open to buy some spark plugs lol.

Takes so long to get round the track that we thought we would have a camp halfway round, lol.
Kids have loved the trip in the old girl, even without air cond. The missis and i were thinking of getting our coaster bus on the rd for the next trip but the kids would rather the wagon. |

This is good to read, at least we are not the only ones that do this. (Ours was in an XD wagon with a 302...) LPG made it great, other than the VERY frequent stops, but on the upside, we got to see a lot of places due to the stops

Well our trip consisted of over 6500kms, trouble free until the last 1000kms when we hit a roo in country NSW. It was dark, we were sitting on 100kmh then Bang, didnt even have time to lift off the gas.
Pushed the radiator into the fan and chewed it prety bad. We limped it 14 kms into town ( 7 am sat morning) where the chick at the servo called around for an hour to chase up the radiator guy. He then put new tanks on a nos radiator and helped fit it and only charged us $100, what a champ! Made it back thru Cobar, willcannia and back to Burra in what seemed like mid 40 deg temps no worries. Now i just need to chase up a grille and front bar. http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/d...urrent=073.jpg http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/d...rent%3D090.jpg |

Very cool trip .. You must be the last family in Australia who have taken a driving holiday and not insisted you need a $100K Landcruiser towing massive camper

nice pics mate. I was at Bathurst on Friday and did a lap in my old diesel Pajero with the kids and our camping crap on board. We did a two week road trip from Brissie to Newcastle, Hunter, Sydney, Wollongong, Kiama, Blue Mts, Bathurst, Dubbo, Gundy, Toowoomba and back to Vegas this morning. 2750k and the kids had a ball. Gotta love a road trip. We're planning a lap of Oz with a camper in a couple of years.
