Well today I removed my rear view mirror (without breaking the window )
Now we all know that AU standard mirrors are a pain. So now I have mine off, what are my options? Can I install a 'older' Ford mirror that has an lock bolt? Can I use another Ford model like a F10O? Can I use another car brand? Can I use a generic model? And how much should I pay? UK

Hi. Start at the wreckers but if you find one that fits I cant see any reason not to use any of the above. If you cant find a good 2nd hand mirror autobarn sell a haigh one with the metal plate that glues on to the screen, just make sure to use mirror glue to stick it on if you need it. Cheers MD

$20 bucks from a wreaker. The original Ford bracket is still on the window.

some say the AU1 design internal rear view mirror was better than the AU2/3 its cheap enough to give it a try,

AU 1 used a small allen key bolt to lock it all in place.
That'd be my choice. My AU1 with such an arrangement is heaps better than the dodgy clip on the AU2. GK
