I have been a member of a car club for about 6 years that is not a participant in the Vicroads club permit scheme and I have had enough of paying a full years rego on something I might drive 30 days a year.
Does anyone know of a Victorian car club that is a participant in the club permit scheme that does not make you wait 12 months before they consider you worthy of it?

Only ones I know have the 12 month wait. Cobra Club is one of them .....

Hi have a look at the asrf Australian street rod federation. They have recently taken a vote to cover all types of vehicles 25 years and older. Get a rwc they inspect the vehicle and you are away club permit.

Yeah id like to know about this too, I hope to have the alfa on the road by June'ish and reckon I would average driving it 3-4 times a month.

Some clubs don't require RWC, but its completely at the discression of the club.
They do however have to inspect the car, to ensure it is Safe and 'Road worthy'

I would have thought if the car was going on public roads then a RWC is a given.

for example my car has BAER brakes, which is illegal in aus, but its stops quicker than any new car today (if i slam the brakes ill go through the windscreen) but again its illegal? wouldn't the government rather you stop than kill an innocent person?

Well there you go...classic, why would the brake system be illegal? Under which section? Id find that hard to believe..emissions stuff is always touchy. Is it the rims that you need to run to clear them being to big compared to standard?

I am a member of a car race club, involved in Autocross, and the scruitneer needs to check the vehicle for safety. Pretty much a standard pre race check for us, and a check that the lights work. There are other such clubs out there.
