In my minor Towing experience, that be a long hike and I'd be too busy keeping an eye on the trailer to not start hopping...
I've done it before, flown to QLD and drove back to Sydney. Wasn't too bad. If you got an extra day annual leave up your sleave do a Friday run. Fly down early Friday morning and get the service done in a couple of hrs and putt along home same day. Don't know where in Vic you are but it's taken me 8hrs to get to Melb in my VY SS from West Sydney. My guess is, if you arrive in Syd by about 7am. You'll be in Shalvey by around 8:30 (considering morning traffic). Source a decent tranny mechanic, book it in at about say 9:30 the latest. Give it 2.5hrs or so. You'll be done at around say 1pm. Pending upon where in Vic you live. You could be home by around 9pm. That's what I would do anyway.

Just saw you live in Geelong but I don't really know exactly where that is sorry. I can also suggest a auto tranny place I've been too. Only used them twice but I'm happy enough to go back to them for a 3rd time.

Marko Automatics in Penrith.
Been going there for years, nice blokes, no bs and they are open 7-12 on Saturdays. |
