In Rockhampton they mostly seem to be those damn Pious (not a misprint) things...it becomes fun when you try and fit four adults into it, made up of three big blokes and one bigger drunk Kiwi who's looking around the car and saying "What's thus little pice of shut...? Why don't you drive a real car?"

The prius is certainly not a replacement for the Falcon Wagon. Obviously there is nothing that matches up or else there would be some on the road down here already. Best guess is they will just max out the existing Falcon wagons then eventually switch to mini vans.

It's actually easier for an older person to get into a Territory than a car low to the ground that they have trouble getting out of again. The Territory isn't as high as 4WD but a compromise in between. The main problem with the Territory is reliability under heavy use - e.g. the doors suddenly won't lock or the tailgate won't shut after you get the passenger's luggage out!
(we love our Terri only because we baby it )

The car that's becoming very popular with taxi fleets overseas is the Skoda Superb. Not only reliable but the wagon has a truckload of space inside.

i did notice jumping into taxis in melbourne, that the back seat of the toyota was a lot more comfortable than the falcon or commodore.

Toyota's always seem to be pretty good for that. With the exception of the Yaris and the Corolla which are like sitting on lumps of concrete.
