No disrespect mate, but before the OP got his details, he suggested calling the cops, to allow them to sort it out. It was at this stage, the maggot bolted. So there wasn't much chance to grab details then, other than a rego plate. (That's how I read it)

If you have no luck with your insurance company, i'd be approaching ACA or Today Tonight? If he is in the wrong, he won't want the publicity, and i guarantee he will sort it out? The media and viewers love those stories. I can see it now, 'law abiding battler with a heart of gold, cut down in the prime of his life, and only inches from death at the hands of a callous, high flying, reckless night club owner with a dubious and shady past, with a costly fantail addiction".
Its got ratings 'gold' written all over it. Seriously mate, your insurance company will sort it. Good luck with it. |

The guys a straight up douche. Back when I worked at maccas drive through (next to village cinemas) he always came through with alcohol on his breath waving his money around. Hope you get it sorted out and he gets done DUI or something.

Not from Melbourne, who are you guys talking about? I don't know the Geelong celebrity thing so I've outlined an outsiders guess below.
Sam Newman Eddie Macguire Darryl Somers Russel Gilbert Rove McManus

Bit off topic, but his not a celebrity or anything. I wouldn't expect people outside of geelong to know him or his car. I'm assuming its against rules ect to name people.
Given the history I don't see how it won't get sorted in your favour, good luck. |

Mobile phones have cameras.
If you are involved with an accident, get it out and take photos of the scene and damage on BOTH cars. |

Sorry....
If you can't prove that your car made contact with his then you have no case. He can just deny it and you are screwed. Happened to me, the other driver said I just swerved for no reason and he was not obliged to stop. The magistrate agreed....and thanked me for saving the TAC a payout for the head-on that I avoided. Next time make sure you hit him, as bad as that sounds... |

Insurance company has payed out, after trying to get out of paying me due to some differences on the car I won't go into. They didn't have a leg to stand on.
Got a hell of a lot more than what I thought it was worth. Bought an NL Fairlane Ghia 5.0 from a forum member to replace it. Has less than half the k's my previous car did and in much better condition, with money to spare fixing up a few things, so its turned out alright in the end, although i've heard nothing about the tool who caused the crash yet. It will take a while before I know wether i'll get my excess payed back to me. |

When I had my accident earlier this year, I got dicked by insurance, not on excess, but because my car was totalled they "weren't obligated to refund my premium" which I payed for an entire year 2 weeks before.
$2200 down the toilet, not even, at least then I coulda wiped my *** with $100 notes. |

Not much progress so far. Insurance company couldn't get police report as they didn't bother writing one, so i'd say I will be stuck with the excess, but I can't really complain because I think I got a lot more for my car than what I thought it was worth.
Bought this NL Fairlane Ghia to replace it. |

I find it funny that when merging in to any lane the old rule of "Give Way" used to apply. It seems to be "Get outa my way" now.
I'm shocked that cops won't act on a "failure to give way"? |

Not to mention leaving the scene of an accident without providing details. But people warned me he had the cops in his pocket.

Just got the phone call today from the insurance company, after 5 months they have finally found me not at fault and they are reimbursing me the excess.
Finally the douche responsible gets the blame. |
