Maybe it was GM's long awaited revenge on Ford for this ad outtake in the early 90s

I'd still like Ford to do a "how many are still on the road"...I don't know about where you are, but I can drive from here to Rocky and see a total of at least four or five F100's sitting on farms in various states of disrepair, obviously not having moved for many years, and more on the way down to Bundy along the highway. I even see the odd one sitting beside a farm shed from the train as we drive along. Chev trucks were sold here in decent numbers, but you simply don't seem to see them just rusting away in a paddock. Now, of course there were probably less Chev trucks sold than F100's, but you know...

...sorry...

Yeap the only thing that lingers longer in the car world then a Ford F100 in a paddock is a Sigma. They spend several years as paddock bashers, have two or three non essential parts pulled from the mechanical (you know pistons and stuff), reregistered and back on the road. If the Sigma is in Beige or yellow it somehow becomes indestructible. I wish it weren't the case, but they are true survivors. Examples will still be going long after the Magna that succeeded it are long gone.

My apologies to Anto in advance for mentioning the Sigma, which is clearly not a Ford product.

Ford's lawyers must be bored sitting in the office clicking their pens all day.

Why don't they just air an ad picking on them for taking government money rather than cry foul and try sue.

A bit of a lame ad really. I liked the Seinfield NSX ad.

I saw my first Toyota Tundra (black) in Brisbane the other day. It looked pretty good (for a Toyota).

Then finish with Ford- No1 in pick ups for the last 35 years. Anything else is just a pretender. GM can't even catch us with a government bailout.

Then more laughing.

That would sting.

The first rule in advertising is to promote your own product, extoll its features
and never under any circumstances, mention a competitor,
especially if it outsells your product..

exactly...the guy who was guna buy a ford will still buy his ford. The guy who was guna buy a GM will still buy a GM...but the guy who was looking at the GM and is partial and unbiased will now go and look at the ford.....and see that it is a much tougher truck....and buy it

They already did that, and GM raised a fuss, and Ford stopped showing the ad.

The ad had a supposed Ford owner at a fake press conference saying that one of the reasons he bought a Ford was that Ford hadn't taken bailout money.

You have that wrong, if you are being outsold by a competitor, you mention them as you want people to associate your product with theirs. If you are the biggest seller you never mention a competitor as that validates and legitimises their product.
