Default whirring noise from kenne bell

Hi guys i got a kennebell kit installed in my falcon about 2 weeks ago and it has now started to give a whirring sound after the first week.

When i first picked the car up it never made the sound it has now. It happens when the rpm is just lifted above idle and when driving it happens when the car is on a steady rpm and on down revs.
when i lift the throttle i am ever so slightly touching the accerator.

We took the belt of the car to eliminate that the noise was coming from the engine. Then i also put the standard belt on to bypass the blower and the noise was also not there.
We then put the normal belt back on and the whirring noise was back.

Is this meant to be normal or do you think i should take it back to the shop to have it looked at.
Only reason i am asking is because it wasnt happening for the first week and a half of having the kit fitted.
I know these blowers are meant to give a whinding noise when under abit of acceleration.

Thanks
Daniel

Hi mate, speak to the shop that fitted it asap. I do recall who fitted it btw.

Have you tried a fresh blower belt?

Send Agro a pm and seek his advice as well.

My belt squeaks a bit when it's cold, but runs quiet when it's warm. These head units will make a whining sound under load, but that's not what your describing I don't think.

In the mean time, try not to use the car until you've spoken with the shop / Agro.

No i havent tried fitting a new belt as i am still yet to get myself a spare belt.
Ill give the guys a call on monday to see what they.

The things is the noise happens when its not underload. its very similar to the sound it makes when under load but its there as soon as the rpm is off idle. Even happens when its warm as soon as the car starts up but then when it comes back down to idle its gone.

Ill will park it up until i get ahold of the shop just to play it on the safe side.
Ive also sent Agro a pm

Thanks tex

It could be just the bypass, or the belt, so don't panic yet!

But play it safe and get some advice first.

Agro lives and breaths these Kenne Bells, he knows his sh%t and will give you the good oil and talk you through it.

Hi mate,

the obvious first one is CHECK OIL!!! Oil should be between the two marks on the dipstick (not level with the top line as you would look for in a sump oil check)

The not so obvious one is when you remove the belt, check the idler that is supplied with the kit on the bracket that picks up on the alternator mount, could be a bearing not seated correctly.

If you find something, give us a yell and we shall airbag one up to you monday morning, your kit is under warranty so if anythings amiss, rest assured you are covered.

Chris

well i checked the oil and that was fine. I also put a stethoscope on the 2 idler pulleys as well the front bolts on the head unit of the kb and i couldnt hear anything unusual, but if listening to it with the bonnet open it sounds like it is coming from the kb

well the thing is that i put the standard belt on to bypass the blower.
not unless the blower could be putting extra strain on the power steering as there is a small oil leak around the pump.

At first i thought it was the power steering pump until i put the standard belt on and the sound wasnt happening.

who knows it might not even be the kb it could be something else around it

Either which way i still love the kennebell setup and have no regrets buying it.

Thought I'd try and play it safe and ask the question.

Cool, better to be cautious with your new blower than ignore a concern!

Glad it's been resolved.

Good news it was just me worrying as the noise wasn't there when I first got it buy was told its just the blower has worn in and I also took it back to the shop who installed it and they said it was nothing to worry about as it was normal.

Thanks
Daniel
