Default Diff ratio and tailshaft questions

I bought a 3.23 LSD from the wreckers a couple of weeks ago, it came out of a Series 2 NA Fairlane.
It has a flange type (flat) connection to the tailshaft.
My car is a 30th anniversary EA, auto, originally cfi.
I got under the car today to start pulling out the diff to swap them over, and to my surprise, discovered two things.
Firstly, my car has a shackle type arrangement for the diff to tailshaft connection, ie, the rear uni is bolt between the tailshaft and the diff.
Now, my car is newer than the NA, did LWB models have the flange type connections always, or is it more likely that the 'lane was modified? The diff is not an EB2 diff, it has the thinner lower control arm mounts (ie, not the fatter ones on later models)
Either way, when was the flange connection introduced on standard falcons? I have to go source a tailshaft now.
Secondly, my car only has a 3.08 diff. I was under the impression that all series 2 and 30th anniversary EAs with 4 speeds copped 3.23 diffs, and they dropped the ratio with EB series 1.
It turns out I am actually quite happy now, apart from having to shell out for a tailshaft, because it means that apart from lsd, my car will also be slightly quicker - and hopefully have a touch less driveline noise.
If anyone knows FOR SURE the answer to the above questions, please let me know - not important, but I am just curious.

all series 2/30th CFI cars had 3.08 diff...only multipoint had 3.23

Ok, one more question, just occured to me.
What tailshaft should I get?
I would assume anything EB-EL 6 cyl will fit, were the ef/el tailshafts lighter/upgraded? Or was it only XRs that copped the uprated tailshaft?

Both the steel and alloy tailshafts were balanced, but the alloy ones are lighter and with a lower rotating mass they put less stress on uni's etc and can spin safer at higher speeds. I am told that the alloy shafts can be damaged very easily so there is a down side. There is no price difference between the shafts at the wreckers I have been to.

6's and 8's, 4sp auto and 5 speed manual shafts can be swapped in swb falcons. 3 speed auto shafts are different length.

No they're not. There not flange type anyways so that irrelevant.
