Purchased my car about 2-3 months ago from Clancy's ford in Dubbo.
I took it back there for the service, and the want $700 to service it which is absolute ******** in my opinion, so told him no. Does this in anyway effect the car's warranty or anything else like that? Can they refuse to fix the car because I refuse to let them service it? Also, where can I take my car to get serviced for less then $700? Hope someone here can help me please |

Need to know about the car and the details of its purchase. NEW or used has it got extended warranty.
$700 sounds high |

It had 80221 when I bought it, and no, just 3 months or 5000kms, which it's out of now anyway so have to pay for anything.
And yes I think $700 is ********. EDIT: Also, there is a slight clunk in the rear when I hit a big bump, and being from the country, there's quite alot of bumps. Nothing to crazy but there is a clunk. |

some cars cost a lot more than $700 for some of their services, what sort of car and which service do you need?
Have you looked at your service book to see what needs to be done?

And I looked in the book, and I think I got it right. It has to have the B type 90,000km service, doesn't list what has to be done though, well atleast I can't find it. I can refuse them to service it yes and get someone else to do it? I can't afford $700 + what ever else needs to be done at the moment. |

The 3 month and 5000K warranty is required under law. So, as I understand it, you can get it serviced anywhere. You only have to go back if you suspect an issue, or if one is found. In which case they have to fix it.
In regards to services, I'd get quotes before you get it serviced though. Shop around, or go to your trusted mechanic. |

What's included in the $700 service?
And what about Ford's capped price servicing?

Even before capped price servicing a standard 90k was nowhere near $700, nor was a 150k with plugs for that matter... There has to be something else included in that surely. |

I'd call back and ask to speak to the service manager, under capped price servicing (which yours is elligable for) the 90k service is $385.
You could even go onto the Ford website and print it out. |

have a look at this site , the car list only goes up to 2009 , but the list of services from different mobs seems to go from 400 bucks up to 600 buks for 90 k service, , i don`t know if it`s up to date or not, it may be worth looking in too.

Off the top of my head, I think it's oil filter, air filter and fuel filter, they should be the only parts needed for the service if everything else checks ok.
Hope that helps a bit |

the brake fluid price seems fair considering they have to remove the old fluid, flush new fluid through and then bleed the brakes

must say i thought my last ford service was poor and for a capped service they gave me a bill for $785 and then when i told them no they had to check with what the mechanic had written down and he had gone home. Took and hour and a half of waiting to get them to honour the cap and then tried to still charge me for oil filters etc which said in plain writing were included in my service. I showed him the paper ford gave me and he still wanted to charge me for the filters etc - laughable

It is illegal for any dealer to say that the factory warranty will be void (if still applicable) if you get it serviced at another location. You can go to who ever and where ever you choose.
But seeing this is a used vehicle and out of factory waranty you can take it to who ever you choose. I certaintly would not be paying $700 for a 90k service. Although I do all my own work/servicing I understand that some people are not as eager to do so but there are decent mechanic's out there that will not rob you blind. |

Find a ruputable local mechanic with his own shop thats been there a while. Still dont know why people change their coolant just because it gets to a certain km point. I test mine just as they do in the mining industry (lots of coolant in them trucks). tell people what area you are in and someone should be able to point you in the right direction.
