Right lads got myself an ole Tina 2l 4speed.... I'm well aware what my engine options would have been back in the uk (v6 24v cosworth motor all day long as its cheap as chips)
But seeing as I'm no more in the uk what are my options over here? |

depends on what state you are moving to & what they will let you get away with. Some can be very strict & can cost alot to get engineered.
If you are going to go to those lengths a small block V8 is the most common. In Australia "Cosworth & "Cheap as chips" aren't used in the same sentence. |

Am aware cosworths are a huge cost over here same as the the uk....ok a LOT more here but the v6 motor is a few hundred quid still in the uk so I could ship one over but want to know the engines that are a common swap over here before I go through all that effort. Like what's a common oe swap on the cortinas here? |

it may be worth seeing if you can get a 2.8 v6 over. not sure how much they cost etc, but it is a lovely motor. loads of low down torque and sound lovely.

Well from lack of options here think its going to be a zetec jobby, easy enough to turbo....crank and rods good for 300bhp as OE items. Only thing is wow those engines are pricey over here!
If I change the engine though do I have to put a cat on it as the engine would of had one to start ith? |

Guy at the end of my street has a TE with 4.9L(302cu) clevo
very plain looking alloy wheels 4.9L badges and twin exhaust(and note) are the only give away Some 351 internals, big carb, cam and good alloy heads should see it get going nicely Since the TE was available with a 4.1L 6 anything to that size should be no problem. I'm thinking the supercharged mustang 4.6L V8 would be a nice goer

302 clevo is a common conversion, and period 4.9 badges available from rare spares
......but the Mustang 4.6 supercharged would be really modern, just keep it a sleeper....then ...Surprise !!!! (vroom, gone...) |
