Its all based around a VE, with as little changes as possible to fit the ev gear. Wheels did a story on it and its remarkably very little changed from VE, just engine removed and battery pack installed, and electric motor in the diff with other gear in the boot area driving it.

Ok... so this is where its all going hey. What happens when you're in the middle of a long trip, you run outa power and need to power up. Where can you do that? How long will it take to power up?
I can see it now... "**** kids, we can't go on a trip cause some little bugger has gone around the street pulling out all the power cords of the electric cars including ours. It's gonna take another 8 hrs before we can go anywhere!" Why can't we do what has been done... but hidden from us all. Run cars using water? Has every dude that's ever tried it been bumped off? I've a bit to drink tonight but surely it's a good question?

it`s hard to see it being any different from any other battery powered vehicle, it will probably still be only good for commuting short distances, there was no mention of range, and if the range was good you would think they be yelling from the roof tops.

Holden may not have had any envolvement, and other car manufacturing staff may have had a finger in the pie, but got to be smart thinking advertising the way they have. Maybe Ford need to do the same to boost sales. |

In 2001, it was estimated that the then concept E-Commodore hybrid with I-4 and lead acid Super cap powered electrics
would cost about $3,000 over a conventional V6 Commodore... It's a shame that Holden and CSIRO let that early work fall in a heap, I can see 2.4 DI and E Assist working well on Malibu |

Strangely enough, these batteries cost an arm and a leg to produce to start with....then you've got to consider the carbon output having these batteries made.....but of course the gov't nor the greenies will comment on that.
One thing I do know, is when the batteries in thse hybrid prius's cark it, it costs 10 K to replace them. Cheaper to scrap the car, which then goes back to, the carbon output scrapping them. As per normal, the gov't tells only half the story. |

Problem is, the gov't and greenies will only tell you, what you want to hear. ie, it's good for the environment. They're not going to tell you the carbon output making the batteries. They're not going to tell you how much your wallet is going to hurt replacing them. They're not going to tell you, it's probably cheaper to scrap the car, therefore more carbon is going into the atmosphere crushing the things and making more. They're not going to tell you the carbon produced by the electricity required to charge the batteries up. (Solar power is another proposition there) So the idiot is the person that doesn't do the research beforehand. This whole "envirnomentally" car friendly thing is a sales pitch aimed at the current times. Plain and simple. Oh ad I have no interweb dribble links to back up what I've written and it's not directed specifically at Holdens. It's directed towards all these electric powered POS's |

The problem with a straight electric car is that it needs to be plugged into a power point to charge. The electric grid can't even handle everyone running air conditioners on a hot day. If everyone needed a 200amp 240V powerpoint to quickly charge a car, imagine how far the grid would need upgrading and how much coal would need burning to run all those rechargers. You'd almost have a case for nuclear power in that scenario. Let alone the cost of electricity. It won't and can't happen. It only pushes the pollution problem away from the nonexistent tailpipe and back to the place of power production.

or charging points? you dont have to charge if you dont want to it will charge it self, it's identicle to what you drive but just has batterys as storage, or use the batterys only to save fuel.
