Last night we had alot of rain i was driving home and the road i turned onto was flooded. I tried to get up a drive way then she died it water ran up to the
bonnet for about 3 secs. I not sure if i sucked in enough water in that time to kill it or its the battery playing up now because i tried to start it and comes up car immobilized. Anyone have any ideas? And yes i now i should be calling a mechanic but i dont have the money for it till pay day |

mate if the waters gone over the bonnet it would have been sucked into the air intake for sure, best not try to start it again until your able to have a machanic take a look.

Take plugs out and turn engine by hand at least two turns..
If manual you can push car while in gear. Check if air cleaner is wet...

I went through something similar to this late last year. Call the insurance company asap and tell them what happened. They will send a tow truck to take it to their local depot to get assessed. The front end of my car was up to the top of the wheel in water due to a backed up drain. Car was written off, as they could not tell what elctrics had been affected and if the car would be any good long term. I had water in the cabin though.

I can only think of one of two things, road decline that went into water.
Or huge pot hole.

Because it was raining that hard i couldnt see thats why i pulled in that way to wait it out at the servo on my way home, it wasnt straight road i had turned the corner straight into it. Two other cars did the same there still parked up beside mine waiting to be towed. It was flash flooding no signs had been put out 5 minutes after it happen the road was fine just very bad timing and yes its at the bottom of a hill.

I hoping for it to be a write off i love it but i dont want it back after that happen it will just keep playing up, the thing is im covered for a $51,500 pay out so does that mean the repairs would have to come close to that before they write it off?

See now thats what I would think.. But apparently not. You dont even have to be near the covered amount to be deemed as I write off.
I just dont understand it. If your engine is seazed alone for such a new model engine you'd be looking at not much change if any from 10K. I would be very surprised if they opted to try to repair it.

sorry to hear about your ute mate.
certainly was some big rain. a lot of the creeks and rivers around here have reached their highest levels in the memory of life time locals. and it all came in a few hours.
