That's a bit like the debate that an old tank is far better than a smaller modern car with crumple zones.

4 stars is 4 stars, 5 is 5.. one is better than the other no matter what the car is. The XF didn't protect passengers well in a side impact if memory serves. The simple fact that a large luxury / prestige car only got 4 stars is an absolute embarrassment when the Fiat 500 can get 5.

And yes, the ratings do need to be changed. 5 stars is very easy to get these days it seems (well not for some) and they either need more stars, or a more stringent assessment criteria.

So you'd rather be in a crash in a Fiat 500 than a big Jag? We should nominate you for the Darwin awards. Crash ratings are a crock, maybe you should look up what it took to get the Terry from a 4 to 5 star (seatbelt reminder). I'd rather be in my 1995 Mercedes S Class than any new 5 star econo box when it comes to crashes (or anything else really).

Don't know how I missed this poll. Added to SC GT overwhelming popularity.
HSV E3 only got 2% of votes

Where's the, "None of the above" option?

$75k would put me in a mint Evo 6 TME with a 2.3L stroker kit and FP Black turbo.

Because it didn't fit my criteria at the time. As a daily driver it is back breaking and uncomfortable. I would hate it after 1 week. Have you sat in one? Even the WRX was just put up as a comparison but would never consider it

Yeah, I've driven one, and owned an Evo 8. One of the reasons I got rid of it was the stupid hard ride, lol.

Let me put it another way: For the $75k, I'll have the TME for the track and a Hyundai i30 diesel as my daily, lol.

But if I wanted something reliable, then yeah the GT for me.
At that price, you're buying more than transport, and the big Aussie Battler is what does it for me.

i picked the grange....

i do love the big boats from HSV

the big noisy 6 litre in the front isnt a bad thing either

i would consider the GT if it was zf 6spd and black or white.

I'd order the GT and and tell them to jam all the goodies into a ute & call it a Super Pursuit.
The supercharged donk in a ute would be the icing on the cake for me.

I picked GT, theyre the "it" car / king of the heap at the moment. Also not surprised that the GT is out in the lead on this forum

However I thought about picking the F6, WRX and the E55 AMG, speaking of which, would you consider a C63 AMG? they are hot! but have no idea what they cost in Oz.

For the record ..... The thread was started 12 months ago and the Evoque hadn't arrived but did look at it at the car show. Was very nice but not my thing. I did end up buying the GT as a demo, paid mid 60k which makes it the cheapest car in the mix apart from an F6 which at the moment you can get for $59k drive away. The winner of most expensive car in that line up above is ..... The Holden Commodre. There are many cars there that would be very happy in the garage. It some were just getting along in age

For the price of a newer AMG I could have the F6 and the GT in the garage, both new and have some play money. I do like them, go like stink but for the price?

I still strongly beleive ..... Of course depending what you want in a car ..... The GT 335 is a stand out. Of course some will complain about the tyres, the lack of a few gizzmos, suspension, but after having it now for over 5 months ...... Absolutley no regrets. When I get bored with it $1,500 later for a tune ..... Pushing 400rwkw's ...... Not shabby

Those that say handling isn't ther don't own one or read to much on the Internet without actually experiencing it for them selves

Unfortunately the thread is rather old, and you've already picked a car.

But I had an awesome deal for you, going back to 2010, I could have sold you a 2009 WS Fiesta CL for the lowly sum of $75,000, I'll even throw in a free wash and detail!
