Default Another face palm, makes you wonder

Are people so stupid as to attract attension to themselves by driving around crap boxes like this???

(There are a few pictures in the article)

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/mor...-1226306200169

Quote:
‘Worst unroadworthy car we've ever seen' - say Bendigo police of an impounded Mad Max style car

Unroadworthy Nissan Skyline car

Senior Constable Rachel Colliver from Bendigo Highway Patrol with the Nissan Skyline impounded by police in Bendigo. Picture: Daryl Pinder Herald Sun

IT looks like something from Mad Max, but this road warrior's wheels are unlikely to see the street again.

Police in Bendigo say the Nissan Skyline was the worst example of an unroadworthy car they have seen, with more faults than they could count.

The driver told officers he couldn't resist the temptation to drive his newly purchased car - the best vehicle he had owned, he told them.

When he was pulled over in the suburb of Flora Hill, the car had no lights, wheel nuts were missing and it had no bumper bars.

The indicators were not operating and the tyres were so bald, wire was protruding from the little rubber than was left.

Bendigo Highway Patrol's Acting Sen-Sgt Rosie Rowe said the car could have caused a disaster.

She said the driver, whose licence was suspended, showed a complete disregard for safety of other road users.

"He understood it shouldn't have been on the road,'' Sen-Sgt Rowe said.

The car was impounded and cannot return to the street until its owner gets a roadworthy certificate.

Sen-Sgt Rowe said the enormous cost of making it roadworthy meant the Skyline would probably finish up in a wrecker's yard.

The driver will be charged on summons with driving while suspended and driving an unroadworthy car.

The car was the 700th impounded in Bendigo since anti-hoon laws were introduced in 2006.

Best car he ever owned???????????

What other bits of scrap does he drive around in. I bet a steel skip bin would be more road worthy than that.

I think the generalization re "madmax" is about the cars in the movie in general, not the cars Max drove.... the car looks like it came out of the wastelands and thats where it belongs....

I have to laugh. I wonder how many people here have bought a car without reg or RWC, got it home, then taken it for a spin round the block? How many out there have bought a parts car and done the same?

I highly doubt he was on a main road. He may have been meters from his house. He was just excited about getting a new car. He wasn't picked up for hooning. As for the best car he's ever owned? His last cars could have been $1000 bombs that are full of rust, brakes don't work. The list goes on. It could very well be that this car was the best he owned. Not everyone can afford to go out and buy a late model car.

Ummm, it's kinda common sense not to take this out, and if you are, in broad daylight?

Since he had no headlights he'd be better of with a torch at night time.

The car might be perfectly fine to run, and I wouldn't have anything against that as a cop if I were to see it, I would probably just tell him to head home.

But something that battered is surely gonna be picked up by the cops.

Yeah, drove my EL Falcon 55km home on a trade plate from work with its exhaust rusted through and basically dragging along the floor because all the mounts where perished.

I put 45L of fuel in it on the way home too, just made it to the servo as I got it with basically no fuel.

I take it for a spin around my block when I do work to it, to see how it drives afterwards but thats it.

Cant say I have ever driven an unregistered car which was so blatently unroadworthy. If your stupid enough to drive a car which is missing headlights, bumper bars and bald tyres like that then you really take the cake.

Have only driven unregistered car twice and both times was to get my roadworthy and each time passed with flying colours.

Driving a car is such poor condition is like raising a big red flag to the bull... and to top it off... he was driving while suspended.

it`s one thing to take a fully working unregistered car for a blocky, but you`d be pretty annoyed if one of his wheels that where held on with 2 wheel nuts came off and he had a stack with you.

Seen that myself - the last line in the article - I assume he was not doing burnouts etc as it would of spruked it in the article
Where does this fall under the 700th car impounded since the hoon laws started - just for attention

lol, a turbo r32 with rear tyres destroyed by burnouts... that describes a heck of a lot of r32's...

i dare say a few hours re-assembling it, a quick coat of jam and it would look just like any other r32.

Yes it should have been impounded I agree, no matter what brand, make, model of car if its in that condition, it shouldn't be on the road.

Do you really think that someone who drove this car could actually comprehend that it was dangerous, illegal and he would be easily caught?

For millenia natural selection has ensured that stupid humans did not reproduce or even survive very long.

Then we got "enlightened" and decided that the smart and wise thing to do was to protect stupid people which has led to a plague of idiots.

So who are the REALLY stupid people, the ones with low IQ that just do stupid things all the time or the ones that protect them by forcing society to be dumbed down to accommodate them.......

Your right, he did do some good things to start with, but the problem was he paid for those things with massive loans that were hidden from the people, the government stopped posting budgets after he spent buckets of money building the autobahns for one thing, and in turn had to invade other countries and steal their cash and gold reserves to service the debt and further equip his war machine.

He wasn't exactly a saint before Poland either, the brown shirts probably would have had a kill score in the tens of thousands before then.

What I was referring too, tongue in cheek, was how Hitler disposed of anyone who he felt was genetically inferior, blacks, jews, invalids, disabled, gays, gypsys etc.
