Just wondering if any South Oz member know of Discount Trailer hire and Sales in Lonsdale. I'm of the impression they are located in Walla St Lonsdale but not 100%. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had a look and it is just a typical workshop shed type setup
No business name or any appearance of trailers for hire or sale or any sign of work happening
What did you need to know?

Cheers fellas. Bought an XA Gt dash (through ebay) from the guy who supposedley owns the business. Long story short, paid for the dash but never recieved it. Trying to decide whether a trip to Adelaide may be in order.

The more I dig, the dodgier this guy seems. There is 2 business numbers, but he never answers either one.

Direct deposit. I don't trust paypal. (dont really understand it). Tried contacting the Police near Lonsdale who seemed like they wanted to help. I suggested if a person has a business premises, but doesn't appear to be doing business, then something must be suss.

I have managed to find a home address though. So I will see what happens. Anyway, lesson learned. BTW, the police were saying they believe about half the things on Ebay may be scam.

If you paid with paypal there is a good chance you would have got your money back. And they would be doing the hard work for you. This is why you pay a fee for their service.

Ebay owns Paypal from what I can remember. Direct deposit is almost the worst method of paying for something. You have little chance of getting your funds back and Ebay will not offer you any help either.

Even if you have the guys name and home address. What will it cost you in both time and money to persue the matter? I think you have blown your money, sorry to say.

Why don't you trust paypal?? It is just an online bank account to be honest that is used by tens of millions of people doing God only knows how many transactions on a daily basis.

If you are intending to buy more in the future in a similar fashion ask about paypal and open an account..... it's not hard and it's safer than what you just did...

I do agree. But isn't paypal linked to your bank account? I just don't think I will use Ebay anymore unless its a local (Badbundybear?) with a pickup.

I felt the same way as you did 04redxr8. There were always stories I read of Paypal scams etc. So what I did was opened up another account/credit card with minimum funds in it thats not linked to any other account of mine. That way if anything was to go wrong, they can only get x amount of $ out of me before I reported it to the bank or fraud squad.

So far I have made about a dozen purchases with paypal and so far so good.

Sorry to hear Ned - the world is full of scammers
I have a paypal ac with a bank I have no affiliations with - our main one is Bendigo and the Paypal ac is with the NAB - just a savings passbok ac not a credit ac and there is no atm linked up with it at all
I only have about $300 in there - if I need anymore I will do a over the counter dep as there is a NAB next to work and one up at the local shoping centre
When I get a dep into the Paypal ac I with draw it immedialtely in cash over the counter and dep into my other AC over the counter so the bal is always around the $300 mark
Use paypal with ebay alot and I have had no problems - SO FAR
