Hi fell'as, my sons xr6 has pulled the clutch cable adjuster nut through the firewall and ripping a circular fifty cent size hole in the bloody firewall.There's a tube section, that the cable passes through and the adjuster nut butts up against which is still attached. What a mess i think were going to have to replate and reinforce the panel somehow, anyone hear of anything like this before ??

Seems to be a common problem as there are plenty of threads on here about cracked firewalls around the clutch cable causing leaks into the drivers footwell. I am planning on beefing mine up in this spot while the dash and motor etc are out as it's going to be easier than waiting until it cracks like your sons has.

Very common problem, the next thing will be that the pedal box collapses - reinforce that while you're at it!

i just had mine fixed with that same bracket the best way to do is make a decent size steel plate ant attach the bracket to that for a wider range of support and i just epoxy welded and bolted mine to save the hassel of pulling half the interior out and it seems to be holding up fine a lil bit of movement but not that bad but yes common problem
