ok in the process of putting the coils in now. After removing the left coilpack i found a free-floating what looks like a capacitor assembly, with what looks like a ground point with wear marks where it's been fitted before. Part number is PBT-GF30.. trouble is it doesn't fit flush with the retaining bolt on the coilpack in order to act as a ground.

Is this thing necessary? Appears it was already floating there or maybe i'm wrong? It just won't fit back where it looks like it should, physics doens't allow it.

I've read it's anything from a boot release circuit to a radio noise supressor..

anyone?

theres a guy on ebay whose selling 2 msd coil packs to suit au 5l for 200 bucks posted not a bad deal

All AU V8s run the same coils, T3 is no different.

nope, they made it run a lot smoother though, the power delivery down low is now as smooth as stirring a big pudding mix with your right foot

hmm mine is missing not reving above 3000rpm dont want to replace coil packs to find issue isnt fixed might get a diagnostic done @ an auto electrician and see what comes up

If the coil packs have done over 80-90k it's worth replacing them anyway as they tend to fail. They're a consumable part after all.
