Default Nc Fairlane thinking of buying..Need Help!!

Hi everyone, I am looking at buying a Nc fairlane, it is 6 cylinder silver with cloth trim. It is reasonably cheap i am looking at it for a run around daily and get a few mod's on it, What can i do to 6 to mod it if i buy it. I wanted to know What is their market value also their pros and cons, and advice about buying a nc fairlane when looking at it.

Cheers Esky

Mate judging by your post count I would have assumed you'd know what area this should go.

But in relation to your question -
Value can be anyway from free to $2000-$3000 for good example.
Check the headgasket (water in oil & vice versa). They will go around 200 000kms
Smartlock can play up. If it needs to be hit just above the hand brake to start then that's a problem that will only get worse and eventually leave you stranded if not fixed.
Otherwise its as with all inspections!

I've always liked the NC, mods depend on budget. As for value depends on condition. You haven't mention any details about the car other than its a 6.

Autos last around 200-300thou kays before needing a rebuild. The 4ltrs can be good engines providing it hasn't been thrashed. Got to love LWBs but maybe I'm biased. Ha

I wouldn't pay more than 3k for a mint example

I see there is a bid on it. I bet it's either from an account that he has set up, or someone paying him back for his ridiculous price setting.

I don't think there is a stock NC out there that is worth $22000.

A 3.9 NC1 with no rego, in my opinion is basically scrap value only. I certainly wouldn't pay more than $500 for one, and it'd have to be very clean.

Thanks, The one I am looking at is well below $500, i am just deciding because if it is a waste of space or not, what would the turn around value be if do everything necessary to get it on the road.

It's so hard to say, because there's basically zero demand for them these days. But I highly doubt you'd recover your costs if you tried to sell.

Problem I see is the klms, so trans and head gasket replacement would need to be factored into the budget.
You can find lower klm EL-AU for $1500!
