My car has these wheels fitted:
Are these wheels 6.5" wide or 7.0" wide? Significance is I'm planning on putting on these XR8 wheels, which I believe to be 17" x 8": With a 1" track increase, I figure if my current wheels are 6.5" I can do it, if they are 7.0" I can't...at least to stay insured... just do it they are sensible wheels for the car and the car was engineered for them they were an option on the ghia from factory the insurance won't worry about it unless they see you as a risk with a modified car.

I wouldn't see a problem with you putting them on, just tell the insurance company they are factory optioned rim's, 17x8, if any they would only be an inch wider.

Thank's guys, that's kind of what I figured. The tyre sticker on the driver's door indicates they're 6.5JJ, which I guess means 6.5". However, given they were optional on the car when new, and further given they were standard on the XRs, I can't really see the insurance co having a tiz about it.
Its just that insurance companies being what they are, I thought I'd better give them all possible facts facts before doing it. |

Yep, Ghia wheels are only 6.5" wide, ridiculous for a factory rim if you ask me (but who did).
The Tickford 17's were factory option, insurance wont have an issue with them because of this. And if they do, tell em where to go!
