base models with a spattering of mid and high series buyers.

So while Holden does not appear to make as much money off Cruze as it does off Commodore,
Holden is freed of the total on going design/development cost burden associated with Cruze
combined with increased sales of mid / high series vehicles that attract higher prices and profit.

The money on FG and FG II has been spent and an internal debt accrued /being serviced, so regardless of
current sales levels its better for Ford to sell what they can and control production costs by down balancing,
down days and yes, reducing staff rather than ceasing production. At the moment production of the local
Territory-Falcon-Ute is more about paying down internal debt and honoring supplier contracts.


Just a guess but if Ford makes around $3,000 nett income per local vehicle, Ford might still
be recovering around $6-7 million each month, maybe not enough to justify the 2016 model but
certainly servicing their internal debt and allowing them to squeak to 2014 update and beyond.

Actually, the true value of Falcon-territory-Ute could be in regards their contribution to FAPA in terms
of gross revenue and supply contracts negotiated within our region (money going to FAPA for parts)

The Ranger being Fords highest selling model ..... imagine if these were not restricted in quantity! But then combine Falcon and Falcon utes ..... it is still the number 1 Ford vehicle ..... add in Territory and in these times of large cars apparently not being sustainable by what many say ..... 2,500 cars are still coming out of Broadmeadows. While of course things could be much better ..... still ticking over in tough times. Add exports to NZ and the minimal amount that FPV are flogging ...... just doing my 1/2 full bit

Yes, compared to same time in 2005, there's been about 11,000 fewer cars bough by the government,
private sales are down about 11,000 while Business fleets are up around 7,000 and rentals up 2300.

So a nett drop of 22,000 combined with a nett increase of 10,300.. I think we can work out which brands
have lost around 22,000 sales in the first four months of the year.. and which have picked up 10,300..

It's a little late I know but the First Quarter Market Segmentation Review is now also uploaded into the Tech Portal.

A few surprises in there for me but probably because I don't watch too much of what's new in some of the segments - things like the Hyundai Veloster (who thought of that name) which is dominating the under $80k sports segment or the Subaru XV which is doing the same to the compact SUV's.

...or imagine if they were built in Australia so unfettered supply was available to local buyers and mining/construction companies...one sure fire way to break the Toymoto stranglehold on the mining sector.

They're not made any more, if I recall production ended late last year.

XR5 was built in Saarlouis.
Saarlouis started building the new Focus from Jan 2011.
Last XR5 would have been built December 2010.
