Yep surprised me as well.
Parked in Bendigo opposite the council offices to drop off some paperwork a courier forgot to deliver. Wandered outside and parked opposite was a Chevrolet Volt. I knew it was Volt because it said "VOLT" in letter about 600 mm high in neon blue on the side. It was also marked Left Hand Drive on the back window and a sticker on the front window told anyone who cared to read it the vehicle was for evaluation purposes only and did not comply with ADR's under some section of the motor act. It had Vic registration and the plates looked the same as any other car apart from the little green "Hybrid" badge on them. Fit and finish of the panels looked impressive and the paintwork as good too. The interior looked pretty conventional (apart from the wheel on the LH side) and the leather seats and interior trim looked up market but fairly conventional. The owner was not there unfortunately so I didn't get a chance to discuss the vehicle in the little time I had. Just a surprise to see it there. Peter. |

I'm fairly sure I know the guy who drove this - he is the GM international parts rep, west Indian guy, his brother in law lives in Bendigo, he's up there quite often. Gets to have any GM car for a set period of time, for free.

Fair point Dave, I remember seeing ads for that eco/green thing. Still the cars are not yet on sale so I thought it was worth mentioning.
Also last night I was speaking to someone who has driven the Volt, they are apparently being used to create a bit of buzz for the car by being seen out and about. |

It's a Holden test/eval car. Holden test cars from all over the GM empire all the time (like FoA does with Ford)

imugli,
Yeah I know but the camera was back in the office with the mobile phone etc. It was just a "run these in to the Bendigo council offices" type of trip. Like I said it was a total surprise to see a Volt there. BAFrod, Ah that would explain a lot. Wish I could get a job like that. Davex621, I went for a test spin at the Motor show last year in a Leaf and a Mitsubishi iMiev as well. It was really short (just "around the block" at Geoff's shed basically) but it was an eye opener all the same. Peter. |

I saw a LHD Chevy Volt fully undisguised late last year in Footscray. I took photos and sent it into CarsGuide but they weren't that interested.

I am over at Holden nearly every day and I have seen the Chevy Volt sitting there for a while, plus other GM and non GM cars for bench marking

Dauphin, I captured a car bra'd SS ute with the Mk 2 VE facelift on camera phone, including dashboard shots with the two round air vents about two years ago. Sent them to cars guide and again, not interested.

No news at all. A few have been around for a while now, saw one a few months ago near Holdens at Port Melbourne. The brakes work, as someone pulled out right in front of him.
