I turn the heater or a/c and it bloody stinks.
Im guessing a mouse had been layed to rest somewhere in there. We have mouse issues up here and after baiting i have found one or two under the fridge.(warmth). Smell is the same. Now how the hell to i find it.Have no idea where to start. |

start by taking the glovebox out. that'll let you poke around a bit easier.

The fan, and the air intake for recirc, is above the passenger's feet (sure ya missus changed her socks? )
For fresh, it pulls from the plenum in front of the windscreen. Not finding anything in there is going to mean pulling the dash, unfortunately, as the little bugger probably crawled into the fan unit or air ducts. You can pull the cover off the fan with the dash in place, but personally it's easier just to rip the dash out....

I popped the glove box out the other day and just saw a headache.I have a Patrol and its heaps easier to work on under there.
Noticed that its not as bad on recirc. |

Unscrew the plastic grille that the wiper arms come through. There should be 4 screws along the windscreen edge, but don't quote me on that - it's been a while

Are you sure it's something dead?
As you can get a bacteria build up in your air con and it can smell like something dead? You probably need to disinfect your air con If so, you need to go to the Liquid intelligence site and look at Liquid Intelligence 719 Air conditioner-sanitizer http://liquidintelligence115.com.au/...and-deodorizer Read about it there. Cheers Steve

Spray some Glen 20 into your passenger footwell and set your fan to recirc on full blast...allow it to run for 5-10 mins and keep spraying Glen 20 into the footwell as needed...cheaper alternative to dedicated 'air-con sanitizers'.

Also I think Glen 20 is alcohol based. Cheers Steve

Dead mouse in duct - stuff cat in duct for a quick fix.
Mate hope it goes well - as previously said glovebox out is the first step - otherwise dash removal is a big job. |

Ok,update guys.Turns out i am actually retarded.
I moved the car the other weekend and noticed the smell really badly from outside the car, popped the bonnet and noticed the Gas converter was leaking from a seal. I changed the converter and small is now gone.I cant understand why the smell was different to the usual LPG smell though? i suppose its good thing im not breathing in the gas anymore. |
