2.0L twin cam engine

Hello i am looking for a 2L twin cam engine from the late 80's early 90's
in the UK we had them in the ford sierra what cars in Australia used them?

At that time Australian Fords used Mazda 4cyl engines. Only engine I can think of was the 'FS' engine in the Ford Telstar/Mazda 626.

Short answer - none of them!

That era over here was rebadged Jap Mazdas (early Laser, Telstar etc) and American Fords (later Laser)

There's the Mazda FE3 engine. That was used in Europe and Japan

Yep an SR20 alloy engine or the earlier FJ which came in the Jap Bluebirds..

The Cosworth 2L was never officially in Australia. There are a few floating around though.

American Fords? Haven’t had any of them since the 60’s…

There were no Ford 4 cylinders around after the Cortina, certainly no Twin Cams.

The most obvious that springs to mind is the Toyota Celica from the Early 80’s.

I'm thinking that most of the Mazda engines in the Laser/Telstar were SOHC. The 2.2EFI in our 89 Ghia was a SOHC.

My 1993 Ford telstar has the Mazda FS 2 liter twincam 16 valve engine. This engine was used in the AX and AY Telstars from 1991 to 1996-7 and the Mazda 626's from the same era and later.

some 90s models used the 2Litre DOHC motors here, mondeo, late mazda 626, late laser lxi, telstar, focus, fiesta etc

my 1998 mazda 626 has the same 2L dohc motor too, but mazda uses a coil pack instead of a distributor.

these motors are being used in early model fords using an adaptor plate to mount them north/south

I've seen a few Escorts fitted with later model injected twin cams, so shouldn't be a problem.

I can remember one with a Duratec 4 in it.

Wanted the old twin cam with carbs dont really like fuel injection.
just not familier with the rules over here its pretty complicated (well is for me lol) wanted an 1989 2L twin cam on twin 45's they sound good.

America had the Contourand Mercury Mystique in the 1990s, that was a reworked Mondeo with 2.0 DOHC I-4 and 2.5 V6.

Ford Escort was built in the USA from 1980 to 2003 both as a Euro design and later as a mazda 323 design (Laser)
The Euro based escorts were available with CVH SOHC and later the 1.8 BP DOHC I-4 until 1997 when FNA
adopted the Laser as the new Escort.

What about a Ford Transit engine...... the late 90/early 2000 models had the DOHC 8-valve 2-litre engine - pretty much the same engine that was in some of the later Seirras.
Im fairly sure the transits of that era were sold over here.......

Cosworth engine will be fine.. Bolt pattern will fit many gearbox's...
