Hi all,
Does anyone know were to find the iac valve/solenoid on a 89 Capri SA [non turbo]? This one starts and drives fine, but as it warms up the idle speed keeps increasing to about 1500 rpm. tai |

I think I see it, lower left side of the intake manifold.
Looks like this item http://apps.agenne.com/ProductDispla...=14600&cid=148 A $1000 usd!!!! If I can't fix the one on the car, might as well put the car in the bin!! Or I'll just preset it to a slightly faster than normal idle with a warm engine. The next question, is there a bleed adjustment for the base idle speed? The throttle backstop, or some other air bleed adjuster? tia |

Good news! I've removed the valve and it seems to work fine on the bench.
My best guess atm is that the engine coolant is not flowing through the valve because of a blockage somewhere, so it can't detect the rising engine temp. It works fine when I run hot water through it from the kitchen tap. Very soon after running hot water through the water connections, it became almost impossible to blow any air through it. I've also discovered the adjustment for static idle. It's an allen screw in the middle of the solenoid. It varies the spring tension against the solenoid plunger. |

Yep, a blockage in the manifold stopping the coolant flowing through the valve. All works fine now.
