I know this an AFF forum - but look here http://www.probetalk.com/
We have a Probe and it has done this but it was a just a reset of the cut out switch - a big pot hole jarred the car and cut it out

I had mazda 626 V6 2.5 Which is virtually the same engine. When does it cut out, after its warm, after you have been for a drive or it just doesn't start regardless? I would be checking the distributor as these are notorious for cutting the engine out when warm or for no apparent reason. I found that when i sprayed freeze spray on the dizzy itself, the car would start again.

^my neighbour had the same problem with her probe. Not related to being warm though. Sometimes she'd go out and it would start first go then other times nothing. Was a dodgy dissy. Replaced it and never a problem since.

the thing that sucks is that a dizzy will set you back $400-500. and yeah it did fix the problem
