I have bought a few from Orix and found them pretty good. Full service history and decent prices. Just make sure you don't deal with anyone wearing a suit... If possible.

I remember when I was looking for cars a few years ago I tried orix, maybe it was just my local one but they seemed really over priced. I ended up buying privately. that being said I will still check out the dealers, as well as private market and auctions aswell. I won't mind traveling for a good buy so hopefully there's at least one good deal going in oz when I start looking.
And I work at an insurance company, I deal with people in suits all day haha

Yeah absolutely Marty, I think the biggest thing I'm worried about is getting impulsive and buying a car I don't really like for a price I can't really afford because of a fancy 5 letter badge in red.
I'd say that I'll sell my car before I upgraded, (I may have made a sale last night to an old school mate on facebook, I said I'm looking to sell from next month and gave him a price I'd be happy with and he was keen) I may buy a cheap run around or possibly a motorbike to be the bridge between sale and buy while I save up some more.

I guess just dont use any car salesmen or dealers. Go through big places where there is NO salesman like Mainheim auctions. Salesmen are only there for one thing, to rip you off.

yeah exactly. I guess one of the benefits of a salesman would be for them to show you (hopefull honestly) what car would suit your needs, be reliable etc etc.
I know what car I want though and know what I'm looking out for in regards to options, service life, how it's been treated so on.
So kind of renders the middle man useless which benefits me financially a lot.

I found this thread interesting.

I decided to give their website a go without stating I was in Darwin. I had no luck looking for what I wanted but got an email saying they would contact. Five days later they did and asked me if they could be of assistance. I told them what I was looking for and the salesman stated;

"We only deal in BF / FG Fords, AU /BA are too old."

I didn't bother asking what they did with their trade ins after that.
