Default Speed Camera on Geelong Rd.

Coming back from Geelong the other day i saw workman installing speed camera's on the Pt.Wilson Rd overpass about 47 Klm to the city Melbourne bound and i'm sure that there will be others to follow soon.
Bloody Bracks Government is at it again.
Cheers John

BRACKS MEANS TAX!!!!!

These cameras are just another form of taxation. Nothing more, nothing less, and anyone that believes differently believes that the fuel prices are market driven.

Bacchus Marsh Road the option....

Because doing 110km/h as opposed to 100km/h will cause such a huge difference in a smash.

Remember when speed cameras were only supposed to be installed in accident black spots. This proves that that was only a lie, the Geelong Rd is probably one of the safest roads in Vic. Its such a blatant revenue raiser its criminal.

Theres been no speed related crashes there for years!

The last big one was a truck that run over a car. (speed camera wouldnt help that)

Also there was the one when the freeway opened a few years back where 3 people died when their car hit a newly installed vicroads camera pole, as it had no guardrail. and it still has none!! Why not!

But thats all!

I have been honking the workman putting up the cameras everyday!.

And they say these will be average speed cameras.... Must be a way to miss them?

The ones on the Westgate were switched on a few weeks ago, but I don't think the ones on the ring road are yet.

These are only the drop in the ocean!... Same overhead gantrys on Geelong Rd will shortly be Time Vs Speed (As in how long it takes to travel from one to the next) So you do Laverton Nth to Lara in less then the estimated time, GONE!
Out of control, honestly!
Re: the 100kph limit, compared with 110kph, apparently, the criteria is how many vehicles travel on that section of highway daily, and Geelong Rd is over the threshold.. Mind you, this is a 4, And at times 5 lane straight frigging "super road"

Density Vs Distance thing... Geelong Rd Eg: might have 200,000 traffic movements in 24hrs over it's 50ks, Against Hume having 400,000 in 24hrs over 300ks

The Geelong/Melbourne road was originally made to 110km/h specs. It was designed for these speeds. Why not use it?

Exactly. The Government was boasting about the high standard of the road and the 110 limit it was designed for while the road was in construction, then when the road was opened it was then set at 100 and plans for fixed speed cameras were released. Coincidence, I think not. Keep the speeds down, the frustration up and the revenue cash registers ticking over.

Check this out, location of all fixed speed cameras, red light etc.

http://www.roadwatch.com.au/speedcameras.asp

Can you design something like a GPS that we can type all the cameras into so that it alerts us with a beep when we approach.

Products like that a commercially available and have been so for years. Road angel is an example. They advertise in the back of motor and wheels all the time.

Just some more revenue fund raisers for the Brack's Govt.

I use RoadAngel and now feel naked without it (not pretty!). Gives GPS speed/time etc. The Westgate Bridge camera has been alive for quite a while, and the Western Ring Road has been beeping for the past 6 weeks. I expect Geelong Rd will start beeping when they activate it (yes, timed between camera speeds).

Another "Road Safety" initiative from that money hungry Bracks.... And the problem with the Bacchus Marsh road option is that numerous officers use it to commute between Corio and Werribee. Also many officers about due to Barwon Prison being along that road...

Only units I know to frequent the Bacchus Marsh Road are the RTTU. They are based at Corio. Werribee a seperate division. Between Lara and Werribee is sort of like a black hole. Even Meltons area cuts into and they are miles away.

I know more than a few people who have been caught along that road - there are more police around there than you think...
