Only private imports are available for the suggested vehicles (Camaro & Mustang) and with hefty pricetags attached (shipping/transport, customs, conversion and compliance etc). In otherwords you end up paying approx $90k for a car that's sitting in showrooms in LA for $30k. (example) http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1 Sure - if these cars were available from local dealers then it wouldn't even be worth the hypothetical. But - as they are not - why not discuss it?

Who cares if the companies aren't one in the same?
Stated here "Would it ever be possible for Holden and Ford to work together on a V8 RWD Coupe" Yes, it is POSSIBLE. Not probable however. So many people are on their high horses here it is rediculous. So it will have a different badge on it...woopdy doo. I would love to see something Holden inspired cosmetically, and mechanically Ford. Think it would be a treat. "It will end the competition" How do you figure a once off model could end the competition?

I voted Yes as I would consider a car created by Ford and Holden in combination, however I have no need for a coupe.

I often wondered about Ford and holden joining up to share common componants in an effort to bring cost down, so that Manfacturing in australia is viable... Yes, Toyota have a share in subaru....but not in BMW, and Toyota and BMW have just joind to make a new sports car...

Even by some parallel universes chance they would want to do it, theres not only practically no market for one here, but they couldnt afford it. Even with sending their Oliver Twists off to Canberra....

It's aussie automotive blasfamy! Holden and Ford working together, wash your mouth out with Penrite!!!
But seriously, purely hypothetically: Would I consider it if it existed, probably. I have considered buying a Monaro in recent months so I would go there. Do I want it to exist, not really. I'd be happy for them to sell the V8 coupes here the parent companies already make. Mustang in the Blue corner, Camaro and Corvette in the Red (or actually its blue too as the GM emblem is blue).

Ford and Holden will do this soon, just after everyone bows down before me as the undisputed leader of the world.
If Ford or Holden wanted a coupe so bad they would just convert the Mustang and Camaro to RHD, or build them in RHD to begin with, just like it appears Ford will do with the new 2014 Mustang, which has already been rumoured to go on sale here. So kind of pointless if thats going to happen. |

Lol I think more people would believe a 400kw V10 GTHO would happen before this in Australia. The idea has merit but the Ford vs Holden rivalry kills it off.
Subaru vs Mitsubishi and perhaps Toyota loyalties do exist but at the end of the day it is no where near as religious in comparison. They will all swap cars willingly based on what gives them what they want. |
