on a serious note, where's he connected the green (signal) wire?

Still think he should have bought a ford though

I've had this problem with my old ute. Depends on where he has hooked it up. There are two places, directly on the coil or on the signal wire that feeds to the dash. Even if it doesn't have a factory tacho they are still wired up for it. This is the best place to connect it. Tell him to check that the tacho is getting power first, then check his connection to the signal wire, and maybe consider soldering it.

wouldnt you make sure the tacho is wired up right before soldering... tape is a whole lot less permenant than solder!

What will a Holden driver do without a tacho and a shift light ,poor guy won't no when to change gears , bet he's got a monster tacho so he can see the numbers easy.

Ford girl teach him to listen to the engine ,feel the engine ,be the engine then he won't need a tacho and he can spend nore money on you .LOL

he needs a tacho so he can tell when to lift his legs when the eng puts a leg out of bed. ..... use the tacho wire behind the dash. the printed curcuit has Tacho on it. but make sure you set the shift light to 1,500rpm so as not to over rev it and break a PUSHROD.

on the lh side in the engine bay between the shock tower and the firewall. follow the harness back to the firewall and you will find a little single plug taped to the harness. that is the tacho signal wire on commodores. if i can find a commodore i would take a pic for you.
cheers Greg

He'll be able to feel the engine as soon as he starts it, those early V6's are the harshest, most rough as guts pieces of garbage ever invented. LOL.
