You may be English, but it looks like you got out. And I'm listening to Squeeze right now, so there! The Mustang is an American car. It has tires, a hood, and a trunk. It has no guards or wings (I can't even remember what those terms mean to you guys). It also has a live axle because we have lots of long straight roads and we'd rather have a big engine than fancy handling for our money. We want to go 0 to 60 miles per hour as quickly as possible.

I suspect in 2014 we'll see a more Euro-style Mustang (but it should still have a V8, and it's supposed to get a little smaller so maybe it won't gain weight).

Does anyone know why Ford Aus just didn't fit the 5.8 to the GT and save the $30 odd mill they spent and call it a day ?

It wasn't ready yet, and the old 5.4 couldn't continue on due to emissions, so they would have had nothing to sell for 18 or so months.

FPV would have still needed to spend $30m upgrading the rear end and finding an auto that could handle the power (since the GT500 doesnt come in soft-appendage edition)
Then theres the fact Ford in the US may not even allow FPV to use it.

It meant getting rid of that heavy cast iron lump sitting over the front wheels too which ruined the handling, as well as getting rid of its lack of low down pull. The Miami kills it in all those areas.

At the end of the day the GT500 went to the 5.8 2 years after FPV stopped building 5.4's.
