Threads like that remind me of scripted TV. You wish it was real, but its not.

I feel sorry for the guy, if you're not mechanical, how are you supposed to know that "flush" means remove the engine and place in the toilet.

Sounds like an urban myth to be...surely no one is that stupid...
...but then again, as Einstien said, "Only two things are eternal, the universe and human stupidity...and I'm not too sure about the universe..." |

Surely we are not as gullible as the Americans.
Nobody is that stupid, and if they were they wouldn’t admit it on a forum. PS there’s a post in 2008 saying it was a hoax. The closest I’ve known about is a guy we knew growing up topped up the oil in his old mans car. And when I say topped it up, he really filled it, he actually got it running for a short time afterwards..

I also know someone who "topped up" the oil in their car until they could see the oil at the filler cap. Not sure how much they put in but it was quite a few litres. As you would expect it wouldn't start when he tried.
This same person also fell through the roof in his carport when he went up to check on something and didn't know you shouldn't walk on the gyprock panels. Landed on the bonnet of the same car and put a lovely dint in it. lol

[quote=DJR-351]In all fairness to the poor fella, he did admit to knowing bugger all about engines and posted the question (in another thread) asking what to do about the dirty oil, another member suggested draining the oil then flushing the engine with 20 to 30 gallons of water!
Now the vast majority of enthusiasts would have realised that the suggestion was a pi$$ take and laughed it off, but to the greenhorn newbie asking a bunch of supposed experts he obviously took the "advice" seriously and proceeded to bugger up his motor (it's all in the thread) [quote] And it all being in America he will probably sue the butt of this guy who told him to use water - AND WIN
