Nissan Silvia
Nissan 300ZX
Toyota Supra
Holden Torana
Holden Monaro
Holden Kingswood
Dodge Charger
Ford GT (American Supercar)
Mazda Rx-7
Mazda Rx-8
Datsun..anything
The Panel Van

All cars no longer in production, but still have massive followings and big modifying scenes. There is much speculation around at the moment and quite a considerable argument that Ford Australia will soon cease local production.

Even if Falcon production falls into the pages of history, we've got a little over 50 years of models just waiting to be properly maintained, restored, modified, customized, driven carefully, driven not carefully, blown up, whatever suits your fancy.

The point is, life will continue, and all previous models will still exist, if the FG MkII is the last locally produced, FR layout Ford Falcon.

thats it time to lay it out. With all this ford closure talk everything with a tickford badge, just went up in value. Everything with a fpv badge signals the demise of ford australia.
It dosnt matter to me either way ford closing, as Im not and proberly never will wont to be in the position where Im buying a brand new ford or anycar made in australia or not, and I suspect alot of others on the fourm are the same.

So you are right people will be collecting using modifing falcons for a long time to come, just not so much those models after the au tickfords.

Well there ... you have just answered the question .. You don't want to buy an Australian car . You sir or madam are the reason the car industry is in a downturn in this country .. along with most other manufacturing industries in Australia. Australians not buying Australian IS THE NUMBER ONE reason manufacturers are closing shop. Do us all a favour and bugger of to Asia if you feel that way about Aussie products.

Sorry moderator, but I've enough of these clowns talking down their own country.

Mate, read his post, he can't buy a NEW car made anywhere. Not his fault, wasn't bagging our products at all.

Cool down...

"Never want to be in a position where I'm buying" ... I must have read it wrong.

The Valiant, the Kingswood, the Torana, Gemini, Camira, Magna, Sigma, the Corona, the Avalon, they all came and they all went, but the Falcon was here before all of them and it's still here. Think about it.

Pretty obvious that neither manufacturer is comfortable about the future of their respective cars,
Holden has a lot riding on VF and Ford is praying that Falcon will get through to 2016.

It's fine to approve projects and build vehicles but that is heavily dependent on continuing sales...
Traditionally, fleet sales make up around 75% of large car sales and now that they are moving on, that's a worry...

the commodore has to last another 20 years longer than the falcon to take the title.

Is it really that many cant support manufacturers to buy new,or that many dont have the expendable income to buy it in the first place ???

30 grand for a smallish car,40 grand for something larger 50,60,70 ,80 grand even more for a new SUV/4x4, who has that sorta money to buy regardless of brand or country of origin
I cant justify paying 25 grand for a few year old territory,to go into debt for it, when i have a perfectly good older car i own
People want good value for money, and good resale ,if that means buying another brand ,then thats what happens doesnt it
Ill never ever buy new regardless of brand, country of origin
Cant afford to wither my money like that

Cars are cheaper now than they have ever been in Australia compared to average salaries. It's not the price of cars that is the problem. It's everything else we have to buy including cost of mortgages and rent that's drying up disposable income.
