GpA had 4bolt mains and steel crank etc. Similar setup to the Walkinshaw?

Nice build number :P Build number 355 or 383 might be veeeery tempting for stroking the engine though eh!

Those 304s are awesome, and VN SV5000s and Group As are my pick of the bunch.

while I am not disputing that the body kit on the group A was actually built to work, as that is what the race cars had to run.

The wing on the EBGT was only for looks, it did not have to perform.

That is the difference between a homoglation race car and a sports car

Its still a VN commodore, probably the worst commodore ever produced.

VN's have plenty of advantages. They were the quickest of all the holden 5 litres due to their weight. They had a live axel not the crappy IRS of the later ones. The V8 heads had heaps of meat in them to allow for big porting. Simply they are a no bull light weight beast of a car that in manual form are as quick as a GEN3 or BOSS with the basic bolt ons

Yep thats exactly right.

I've never liked VNs although the V8s tickle my fancy. :1syellow1

But in general I dont like VNs as they look like a boat on wheels.

my brother had a 5 litre VP excecutive Auto, i don't know what it had done to it but you could put your foot flat to the floor (on bitumen) it kicked back to first and smoked the back tyres.

He no longer has it now as the cops put about 20 defects on it. ****y things like wobbly seat or grease oozing from a belljoint rubber. pathetic

The VN Group A were probably the closest in philosophy to the Sprint.

Both were well engineered and done for a purpose, not some plastic fantastic showboat. Suspension, engine, drivetrain were all markedly different, and researched too.

Remember at the time the VN Group A was the second fastest 4 door GM product worldwide. Only behind the Vauxhall Lotus Carlton Turbo Super Dooper Speed Machine.
