Is it still under warranty ?? If not you must drive on some pretty crap roads to bugger the rack in so few kms :( I would probably get a second opinion before doing anything else but as I mentioned earlier if it's under warranty get it looked at

What reason did they give for it to be stuffed?

Yeah sorta under warranty. We have an aftermarket intercooler and bov on it so just hope they will do it. the did replace the front left hib assembly 3 weeks ago under warranty.
The tyre shop rekon its from hitting to many pot holes, but we are pretty careful in it, if it cant handle a bit of rough roads whats the point of bringing them out in aus.

You wouldn't be in NSW by any chance would you ?? I know where they're coming from with the pot holes theory :( I still don't think that would be the only reason for it, and with such low k's on it I'd be more inclined to believe there will be something else that's contributed to it As far as warranty is concerned don't let them give you the B.S. story that a new intercooler or a BOV will have been the cause, lowered suspension, bigger rims etc... they may argue but unless you're rolling on 22's with SSSSL springs the steering rack shouldn't be copping that much grief. Did you buy the car new ? Have you ever towed anything with it ? Towing is the biggest destroyer of steering components and suspension bushes from my understanding, and towing outside the recommended weight capacity will kill things even quicker Take it to the dealer and get them to check it

Be interested in how they define the rack as being stuffed....I have struck a few people, that have been told their rack is stuffed, but it's turned out to be a rackend.

Get a 2nd opinion....Don't even mention the first one when getting it done.

IMA, I find it hard to believe the excuse given.....Unless you've been ralling the car, with the kays you have on I do find it hard to believe.

Please read the manual carefully, as the these manufacturers spent millions of dollars making sure it is perfect.....Now why are there so many problems with my car, when I follow the instructions to the letter?....Answer, majority rules round here

Lock me up and throw away the key because I'm a hoon....I got caught doing 59 in a 60 zone
