Unhappy End of the Holden Vs Ford Show

Looking at the AME website the other day and noticed that there is no Holden Vs Ford show scheduled for 2006. The show held this year was very ordinary and lost a lot of its appeal by allowing all makes of vehicles to enter. Even though they allowed all makes of vehicles the number of cars entered was very low. It was a good show before with just the Holdens and Fords on show and entries were quite good. Hope that the show will be able to come back onto the calendar in the near future.

Ciao - James

It's biggest problem this year was the fact that the judges had no idea of what they where judging and also they allowed the holdens to have there own catergorys while the fords had to compete with all the rest.

In brisbane the only car dealer that has surrported them even said they would not return next year.

Amen. the AME show sucked **** this year. The car quality was crap apart from a few - what i'm calling trailer trash (show cars that cannot be driven) - the rest... *PFFT*.

The show size was smaller at Jeffs Shed than the H V F show previous years. And I think the ticket price for punters to walk in was more.

All in all it sucked.

Hi Goldie, I can only speak as to the Sydney show and knowing a few of the trade guys, they would never again support such a format. Even the judging in Sydney left a lot to be desired with some entrants verbally abusing some of the trophy winners. The cost also for entries was far too high and this also translated in car clubs giving the show a wide berth. Our club attended and the members said that they would not be entering any show in 2006. In the past it was basically eveyday Holdens and Fords getting together as part of a rival show, with a few exceptional vehicles from both sides as show cars. Street registered cars should not have to compete against other vehicles that have never run on a section of bitumen, the show ponies should be judged as a separate category. As said it would be good to see the show come back but get back to its original format.

It sounds like the other event was the same in other cities as it was in Sydney. Hopefully they'll return to what worked for them next year
