The Samsung Galaxy Y doesn't have an external antenna port so not sure what you can do there.

A couple from our camp group have done it as kits are available.
I just have the external antenna joined to the patch cable.I have been told that there is a complete kit but I don't have the male plug that's goes into the patch cable and then to the phone

You can capacitively connect to a mobile phone external aerial.

Nokia have done it for years in their car kits.

Should be something available for the samsung...?

Some of the Samsung Galaxy phones have an external aerial connection behind the back cover and you can buy a modified cover that allows you to plug in.

I heard a mate talking a couple of weeks ago, I'll see him tomorrow and let you know.

A quick google search reveals

Note that I have not dealt with this mob - so I have no idea of the quality etc.

I have a Galaxy S3 and got my patch lead from telcoanntennas.com.au - but they have nothing listed for the Galaxy Y.
