Has any one had text messages come though as a spoken message whilst driving? I've had this twice now and you also have the option of replying with voice to text.
It's only happened twice and actually once also in my FG xr6. Is there different types of text messages or what makes this happen only sometimes? I don't know if this makes any difference, I use a Nokia with Microsoft OS. |

Hasn't happened to me.
Maybe your phone is set to read them out while its connected to Bluetooth or something, and bluetooth is kicking in and pushing it through your car's stereo? I'm running an Android phone and haven't had it happen but it would be god damned handy at times!!!

Hi All
The spoken text messaging is a feature of the Nokia Windows phones. It seems to be dependent on the newer Bluetooth systems to work. It works seamlessly in the work Aurion but my XR5 missed out on the bluetooth streaming upgrade (Apparently the firmware in my radio / CD Player is too old to take the new Bluetooth module). The phone works fine but I can't stream music and I think the spoken text messages needs the A2DP functionality in the radio. Which is of course a bummer when the crappy work car out-techs your pride and joy :( Now if anyone can give me any ideas on how to get A2DP streaming working in an MA XR5 I would love to hear from you... Especially if step 1 is not "Replace radio" Bring on the new Mondeo with Sync |

Thanks PG.
Have you any idea as to why it has worked a handful of times only in my MC Mondeo And also once only in my Fg1. Why doesn't it work consistently? |

Hi GT2,
I am not sure about the intermittent speech problem. Mine works all the time in the work car. You might want to check the settings. There are some options about when the phone will play back messages From the Settings menu scroll down to "speech" and open the speech settings page. Towards the bottom of that screen there is an option Play audio confirmations Make sure that is switched on. Next check the option for when to read text messages aloud. I have mine set for "Bluetooth and headsets" but you have a few other choices here for always on, wired headsets, Bluetooth only or off. It also works well around the house as I have Bluetooth enabled home phone so the Nokia calls out name of the sender when a text comes in at home. Apstar, thanks for the tip on the A2DP app but it won't work on our phones. The New windows phones can't use Android apps Hope this was some help PG |
