Good move Holden. Like I have said in many other posts, competition is a good thing for us consumers. Again, if we look at this pragmatically, Holden have just upped the ante to Ford. So what are Ford likely to respond with? Upping the ante to Holden. If that means we all get 270kw 3V V8's and 300+kw FPV's then who's going to whinge?
For years Holden has pushed the bar on power levels in the v8's, and Ford has had to follow suit. In their respective research departments, Holden have been thrust into this position through legislation re environmental concerns, whereas Ford have thought that high fuel prices were to become a disincentive to V8's. In this particular instance, Ford got it wrong. But where we win is that Holden are now forcing Ford to react, which will mean an upgraded Boss motor. In the end, Holden bring in the LS1.5, Holden lovers win, and Ford lovers will benefit from a Ford power increase. Also, the extra players in the market like the 300C mean that we have nicer interiors, catchier exteriors to look forward to, as well as a lot more standard features. To use an old cliche; "Viva Le Competizione".

It definately will be interesting in the next few years to see how the 6L80 will stand up to the ZF. |
